The truck was bought way back when by my Grampa. My older late brother and I helped my Grampa work on her. So this truck has sentimental value. I'm doing a quick job fixer her up for now. Just to make her more dependable since I do drive her just about everywhere.
Gonna drop the $80 360 in there for now while I save to finish the other 360. Still need rods, and a flywheel for that 360.
No updates today. I feel ok. Not great, just ok, and its raining. So nothing till tomorrow

Thanks for the tip. I'm not there just yet, but I do remember we had to drill 1 hole when we went to power steering. It wouldn't surprise me if it did crack there. My passenger side motor mount pad is cracked too.
I DO live on a dirt road. It is fairly maintained, but the tractor tires leave bumps in the road. And I do/did work construction where we were required to drive over cow grates to shake off the mud before we went out to the exit. I avoided them as much as possible.
I wonder if any of that contributed to any cracking?
I've been driving it for the past ~10 years, but we've owned it for about 20.

The guy had to take off the oil pan to get it out of the RV/van. It sat in a garage uninstalled and rusted fairly bad inside. I have an extra stock 360 pan that I'll just put on, since I'll be going to an aftermarket pan for the built 360. This 360 is just going in because the 318 is done. It's still good/ok but needs to come out because I wiped a cam lobe and have been finding speckles in the oil. It's gonna come out and apart for an inspection. It's been rebuilt in 1999-2000, but should only have about 70k.
I also have a high volume oil pump I'll put in the 360 just because. I haven't had a good look at the oil pump on the $80 motor. It's been on the cherry picker and I just haven't had the guts to get under it and look haha

Truck came as a 3 on the tree a230. But that was swapped for an A833od for gas mileage. I'm hoping the 833 hold up behind the 360. If not, I'll have to see about a 5 speed 
For now, I'll order a flywheel from mazzolini because he's down the street from me and he's a great guy.

Got the intake stripped primed and painted. I would have installed it, but paint is still fresh. Don't want it chipped by the bolt holes. Got the valve covers stripped. Have some detail work to do. Clean the crevices and straighten the holes. And yes I did reinstall some smog devices (egr valve) and thermostatic vacuum switches. Even though its going in a 72, once the race motor is built, this ones going in something else. I may just find me a 75-78 dodge shorty van Gettin there

looking good! that $80 engine looks pretty clean inside. That one pic reminds me I need a couple plug wire holders.
