the car is a low mile 70 challenger r/t-383 4 speed. it`s got a vibration that is always there-i replaced the clutch pressure plate and the vibration can be seen that the throw out bearing moves forward and backwards on the borg/beck three fingers and causes the vibration. if i back off the adjustment so the t/o bearing doesn`t touch the three fingers the vibration goes away but the clutch pedal stays on the floor and you won`t be able to select any gears as it doesn`t disengage the clutch far enough to select gears. the flywheel is not in great shape-i wanted to replace it but the owner elected to have it faced-it has surface cracks but does seem to spin true. the z bar and all the pedal bushings are more than likely worn and i will replace them but is it enough to stop a clutch from disengaging? is the factory settings on the mcleod fingers correct? do i take gearbox out and adjust the three fingers so the t/o bearing can spin true? i usually set the adjustment so it is just barely about to make contact-the clutch works fine with preload on the t/o bearing but i get the vibration. the over center spring is in place and so is the small one at the fork. do i need new ones?
can anyone help? let me know if you have any ideas on cures or other things i can check.
thanks in advance
frank.
