Going to be needing a windshield gasket so have been looking at the vendors

Softseal $ 105.62
Metro $ 149.75 (vulcanized !?!?)
Auto Body Specialties $ 79.00

So, anyone know if there's any significant difference between them or is one to be avoided like the plague ??

I'd use one of the established Mopar vendors who are actually Mopar guys and their reputations depend on the parts they offer.

Steele Rubber is probably the true manufacturer of the gaskets..

$124 to buy direct.

If you can find a good clean used original one, I would use it instead...getting the glass in with one of these new gaskets is brutal.

I agree with using an original. Almost impossible to get a new one to go in. The glass company that removed mine begged me to save the old gasket.

Glad you mentioned that now ... the glass guy's coming in an hour to pull the windshield and rear window.

What's the difference between this:

68-70 B Body 2 door Hdtp & Sedan windshield gasket

and this:

66-70 Belvedere, Coronet 2-4 door Sedan & Wagon windshield gasket

??

66/67 2 door sedans and 66/70 wagons, 4 doors and converts use a different windshield than 2 doors hardtops and 68/70 coupes/sedans.

with your agreement. I wasn't playing favorites.

As far as who makes them. Precision, who only sells wholesale, sells all the ones where you see the WCR or similar part number. I saw where Steele had a product announcement a back and said they made them now. I can't confirm that they actually DO but I'd be curious to know the truth and why they did. I'll touch base with my contact there to find out.

Well its become a moot point. The guy that took the windshield out (and happens to own the same car) says he can supply OEM gaskets and they fit properly. He felt the original was too hard for reuse. His prices are in line with everything else out there so I'll leave it to him when the time comes.

Thanks for all the input.

A new gasket might require more work than most installers want to put into it.. Lazy people.

To recommend use of a 40 year old gasket is poor advice...
