Does any manufacturer make a cam shaft with the 340 4 speed spec? The cam shaft # is 2899205.

I always thought why there was no difference in the horsepower rating between the 2 cams? Any ideas?

Same horsepower, but the 4 speed cam was the better cam. Both the autos and 4 speeds had the same cam for 69. A 68 4 speed would out run a 69.

The 4 speed cam did make more power even though they were both rated at 275HP. They also would not idle dead smooth like the auto cam. Its too bad that Chrysler stopped using them in stick cars. It was a great package and wasn't offered for very long.

If you dont find one NOS or an off the shelf copy, PM me, I can get you one that is basically a modern copy and produces more power. You would need to run a different valve spring.

Yep the 1968 340 stick cars were the only ones to get the more radical cam. My brother bought a 68 Dart 340 four speed in 1973 and I will always remember how it had a lumpy idle. But boy did that 340 run hard for a stock 340 car. Ron

I am rebuilding the engine to run on pump gas. It will have about 9.3 to 1 compression. I can get a '69 cam shaft, but would like to run one similar to the '68.

The car new ran 14:50's. It may see the drag strip once in awhile, but mainly will be a occasional driver.

Racer brown can custom grind one last I heard and your right that cam is a great runner and will out perform even the Hemi grind 474 lift by having more low end

Speed Pro CS1019R, 288 intake/ 298 exhaust advertised duration, duration at .050 is 214 intake/ 224 exhaust, lift is .443 intake .465 exhaust, lobe center line is 112. Slightly lumpy idle and runs like a mofo in a 9 to 1 360 with stock heads. Pulls hard from idle to 6000.

I ordered a CS1019R cam with lifters today. I think this should work very well with my 4 speed, 3:91 gear.

Thanks for the help! The project continues!
