W2 & W5 pattern are one and the same. The only difference being the Intake gaskets having rectangle intake ports.

Not to be a "Debbie Downer" but I think a lot of guys are going to be highly disappointed when these heads finally come out. i would be interested to see what the big hold-up has been in getting them on the market.

That sign just got caught in the picture.
That sign is intended for another head on the display board.

HAHA, funny, the Edelbrock bigblock head is just an improved version of the 915. You could just as easily say that the 440Source head is a copy of the 915 as well.
But seriously folks, think about it. If one is going to design a head that uses the stock Mopar intake and exhaust port flanges, at the same location in space, and use a stock length valve, valvespring and rocker assembly, how much variation can you get? OF COURSE they're going to look similar.
Where I fault the aftermarket street heads is: 1. Copying a 1967 combustion chamber when THEY KNOW there are better chambers, they build them for other cars, and 2. Using stock length valves. this limits the available height of the runner
I have to think that one could build a better street head with longer valves which uses the same rocker assemblies, most likely by changing the valve angle, while also using a modern combustion chamber. It's a shame it hasn't been done, because with those two or three examples on the market there isn't room for a startup now. I'd like to see what Trick Flow could do, for example.
R.
Considering Edelbrock already has patterns for modern combustion chambers that they use on other heads, there is no excuse for them to be offering 1967 chambers on anything they build. I would bet a Vortec type chamber would be good for 50 HP at 8-10 less deg of timing. Maybe big block cap walk goes away too?

Looks to me like a nice head and a long time coming.
If the exhaust bolts being low bothers you plug and redrill them. I suspect they did this as a marketing deal more than anything to make people owe and awe about a raised exhaust port.
I wonder how this head compares to the Arrington 15 degree heads. These have 18 head bolts holes.
I just have trouble spending the money on LA style heads unless you are in a rule situation requiting it. This head would have been awesome about 10 years ago in some of the street classes.

It's disappointing to see some of the replies on here. A company steps up to a limited market, comes up with a true performance head that can be fitted to a sportsman/ enthusiest type build without exotic parts, and there are complaints?!?! This head is an awesome offering to mopar guys, and we should be praising them for it, then placing orders. The detractors need to turn off thier keyboards. I would like to see this head offered as a bare casting also, It clearly has alot of potential.

i agree to a certain degree with ya,however being this head has to go on a 48* aftermarket block it kinda took out the weekend cruise guys.9 of 10 would go with a w7,8 or 9 going the aftermarket block route because there's def alot more power to be had with the above mentioned heads.JMO
Andy, that aint no 48 degree head.. the pushrod holes look like 59 to me, but a little mill work they could go on both.

It's not a 48 degree head.
I assume if you don't have a R-block with the extra head bolts, you just cut them off.

Yes...I'm complaining! I've sold off nearly everything W5 as this head was in the catalog back in 2012. I was plenty happy with the performance of my stock block W5 mill, but the casting quality of the head was miserable. Brittle, and as we learned the hard-way....couldn't be welded. We had a short turn which was ported too thin and caused us lots of grief. Ebrock has had a history of quality castings and it looked like this head would fit the bill....but it's still apparently made of "unobtainium". I believe the biggest delay in their hitting the market is the huge gamble of getting their return on investment. Pretty niche market anymore... I've moved on to a W8 build, but still hope to see these heads become a reality.
