I'm not, but there is no doubt in my mind at all, there's a market for them. Just like the 440 Source "Stealth" 440 heads.

Could be (I don't follow the SB Mopar marketplace), but I'd hope anyone who attempts such a venture does a more honest job than Brandon did by simply "borrowing" Edelbrock's Performer RPM design and stuffing it into a OEM-replica wrapper.

But its OK for Procomp to do it.

Procomp isn't even that "creative"... and I'm really surprised a company like Edelbrock didn't bring their whole legal department down on those guys when they started bringing their "clone" heads to market. After all, MSD put Procomp under the spotlight and got their look-alike ignition boxes off the market.

HAHA, funny, the Edelbrock bigblock head is just an improved version of the 915. You could just as easily say that the 440Source head is a copy of the 915 as well.

But seriously folks, think about it. If one is going to design a head that uses the stock Mopar intake and exhaust port flanges, at the same location in space, and use a stock length valve, valvespring and rocker assembly, how much variation can you get? OF COURSE they're going to look similar.

Where I fault the aftermarket street heads is:
1. Copying a 1967 combustion chamber when THEY KNOW there are better chambers, they build them for other cars, and
2. Using stock length valves. this limits the available height of the runner

I have to think that one could build a better street head with longer valves which uses the same rocker assemblies, most likely by changing the valve angle, while also using a modern combustion chamber. It's a shame it hasn't been done, because with those two or three examples on the market there isn't room for a startup now.
I'd like to see what Trick Flow could do, for example.

R.

Just bringing some detail pictures I took at SEMA of the SB Victor head directly into this thread.

while i dont know the answer i suspect that they can do quite well, a 225cc intakeport is not tiny by any standard and a raised runner should be capable of moving more air unless they totaly screwed up the shape of it,wich is doubt they did.

i think the raised runner and raised valvecover rail is just playing games with our eyes makeing the ports look smaller than they actualy are

as for porting, its very hard to tell from the pictures but i suspect that these heads are intended for a rockerarm with fairly small offset on the rockerarms, plugg those pushrodholes and move them over some more and you can probably hog that portwindow out to a big port if needed.

Would be interesting to know what rockers they are designed for?

I would like to see what head gasket they recommend. looks like a lot of room on the bore side of the valve unlike the regular edelbrock head.

And how will they manage to avoid exhaust leaks with those stupid ports/bolts locations, especially the outer ports?

They look sort of like the W5 exhaust ports on RyanJ´s webpage after porting, might just be the way W5´s are.

Yes, you are right, my Swedish friend! Sorry for my ignorance. I checked with my ported W5 heads and they are almost the same, but a little better (as in the Shady dell pictures), and my W2's are not that extreme. But the fact is still there, if you draw a line through the bolts the clamping force is uneven and can cause an exhaust leak on top. Maybe a thick flange and some heavy washers can improve it.

I wonder why they didnt go with the W2 pattern?
More parts avaliable for W2s, gaskets, headers, flanges etc
