Two blocks from the Trenton plant.Top is a 440 block from a 68 Charger R/T and the bottom is from a 69 Charger R/T. I noticed the change in font and the location is different. The 68 stays close to the pan rail while the 69 is almost centered. Any thoughts??

The odd one is a phony, phony, phony, Just kidding. It wouldn't suprise me that the number punchs wear out so they buy new ones, probally at the best price so who knows if they're (the stamps)from the same vendor or not

If they were both built in the same time frame I might be skeptical , but not 2 different model years. Must be an early 69 engine as I haven't seen that on any of the 69 big blocks I have.

I'm not sure if any or all of the Mopar assembly plants assembled the motors they installed in the cars or if they where assembled and ship from a engine plant and the car factory would stamp the engine I.D. on the sides of the blocks in 1968 or not. I thought that all the Mopar passenger car 1968 BB had the VIN # numbers stamp on the rear of the block above the bellhousing mating surfaces under the drivers head on the drivers side and on one of the bottom ears, not on the machine pad on the passenger side your showing

Those are not VIN number stampings, they are assembly information stampings.
