you might get some different answers but I have loved hughes stuff and will get a cam from them when I build my street roller 360.

I have used the regular Hughes cams, but not the whiplash cams. I did notice the whiplash cams have narrower lobe seperation which will give the cam more overlap (rougher idle) at the same duration compared to a wider LSA cam.

I can't comment on the whiplash cams but I had one of their solid cams in my 11:1 451 w/unported Eddy RPM's. It pushed my 3700-3800# Charger to 11.30-11.40 at the track. My bro also had one in his pump gas 440 w/Indy's that ran mid-10's in a 71 Dart. Good reviews from me.

I looked at the marketing/sales pitch and sounds just like what I want

idles like a funny car, smooths out about 2000rpms and the sweet spot is 2000-5000 rpm

works with low compression 8.1-8.7 318 for us guy that run the lo-po units

I just want to know does it come in a roller cam?

or how to get that in a roller cam and be on par with it performance wise

a poser cam if you will

the voodoo 60710 roller I have now is sweet and has the level of performance I am happy with but would love to have that and the funny car idle at a stop light

the thumper needs lots of comp, stall, gears so it out...

and I have gone roller and dont want to go back to slider cams now

so a roller swap is the ticket for me

any one else? thanks

funny car idle may sound cool but it sucks when youre sitting at a stop light trying to keep the motor from dying/surging/choking out. but I doubt that cam is all that radical to be doing that.

what are the specs on it?

said they have it work out and it runs better than the sound would imply

its under there 318 muscle car cam
485/518
213/226@.050
109lsa
sweet spot 2000-5300

designed raise not low cyl pressure (torque killer)

posed to work for a real low comp teen but be a good daily driver on the street

I am slow any ways..might as well have the sound too

scratchnfotraction,
The Whiplash cams have been very popular and we are getting a lot of good feedback on them. If you are interested we can provide the same thing in a hydraulic roller. We are just not advertising them yet. If you get a chance give us a call and we can get one going for you.

Thanks Hughes, for all the memories. The 440 heads you did, and matched deep ported intake, are awesome. the big block turned out to be wilder than my wildest dreams. I love the "Big" valve lift which was scaring me away at first. You did it right, and provided more than fair customer service. Great job!

kevin,

I just didnt want to call up...the web site said do not call with ?s,as they took a lot of time and work to put all the info on the listing

I went roller and got a voodoo 60710 and lunatis matching spring

didnt realize they where double with a damper and need seals and machine work, had to buy another set that drop on with out removing the heads...comp 901s

hughes suggest there springs only also, dont want doubles and machine work, want to do it with heads on the engine

and get it right this time whith out the 130$ door stops

is all this gonna work with the stock HD rockers, pushrods, roller lifters, single springs(hughes) stock seals, and spring retainers

thanks for the help...if you rather I call I can do that too...just dont want to waste you time with my dumb ?s

I am no racing guru, just a shadetree rabid parts changer that wants some sound in a 318

what discount?......
