my brother has had this for 30 yrs. he knows its GM but what year and what its for is unknown. i know this is a mopar forum, but there is a lot of knowledgable people out there. thanks

Was my initial thought as well...
You sure its GM? There should be some stampings on it somewhere-probably a penstar....

I recall some years ago seeing a similar base on a Poncho,
but can't recall the model/motor now....

The GM fresh air systems were pretty similar to each other;
Chevy usually used a rubber ring and snorkel or 2 (or none with a trapdoor).
Olds and Buick were similar to the Chevy but foam rings and a snorkel or two, or none with trapdoor. Some had snorkels facing up to the hood scoops. (There's a few exceptions like the 69 442 that had scoops under the front bumper, etc.)

Pontiacs are the only other ones (GM) that I recall off-hand that used a similar "shaker" type set-up (but different).

But that still looks like a mopar grabber base...(looking at it in a pic)
