So, if your own personal experience flys in the face of the excepted facts, do you even post them, or do you feel the need to add a disclaimer? I used to take such debates personally, but I'd like to think I've grown in the 12 years I've visited this site.

There are some very intelligent people on this site and I would venture to say that you Brad are one of them but, having said that no one knows everything and there is always some new thinking coming out and that's a good thing.
I don't mind the discourse whether it's ego fueled or not, sometimes brilliant ideas come out of it.

I was one of those teenagers that ate up every HotRod/CarCraft/MoparAction/MoparMuscle/ChryslerPower/PopHotRodding etc... In my quest for knowledge. When I began working in an actual machine shop I was amazed at how my real life experience did not coincide with what I was reading in the mags. There are no absolutes in this field. This is where the term "Your results may vary" will apply. I don't really feel anyone has "all" the answers so I approach any internet content with a "I know what I know" attitude and that's it. You will keep your mind/perception intact much easier with this outlook. At least "It works for me" (remember Hunter with Fred Dryer?) J.Rob

I liken a lot of the tech here to a flood. Sometimes you just have to take high ground, wait till it's over and then go back and pick up what's worth saving.
excellent point!
I think of this whole internet/forum/chats/etc,,,as a 'public restroom'. You can go in and find just about anything written on the wall, but that doesn't mean it's true.

This is gospel truth , though I really liked the flood analogy too. There are just some things that will not repeat. I was gabbing with Bill Werner a few years back , he tuned Scotty Parker and the H.D. factory team. Now the XR 750 motors are dinosaurs , but he told me they could dyno a motor , take it apart to inspect , put it back together and find or lose 3 to 5 h.p. routinely. If he didn't know why , I'm sure not gonna figure it out. If you need Absolute , it is easiest to find in the Vodka row at your local booze-a-torium.

I'm betting a lot more questions get asked via pm now also.
If you need to an answer in a PM...... You likely don't have a clue an are more concerned with lining your pockets with $$ from BS info.......... If you know what you are talking about you are more likely to do it on an open forum........

Huh? I think you misunderstood. If someone sends a pm asking a question.

Then they already know the answer they want to hear and ask where they know they will get the answer they want to hear.......

How things are said is the key. Different opinions with respect will keep all minds open and lead to a post that could benefit everyone. Even if someones approach or idea has some flaws it may open some doors to a different way of looking at a situation and a new solution. Just to think I knew all there was to know about something would mean the end of my interest in it personally i enjoy hearing any new insight. We do need to hear if someone feels information is flawed we do not need it in the form of a attack a question would be far more effective and productive. Posts would most likely increase and people with far more wisdom and knowledge than I may return to post Information usable to us all. That is the part I miss on this site we have lost some great posters. Try not to take things personally Its just cars

I am here for the shared information and experience, and thank those that are here for that. (and funny stories)
It is still a good site and I ask people to not only read but to share. It helps others to not make the same mistakes we have made and enjoy the sport/hobby.
We are car guys/racers and all have egos, can't we remember that and have some fun.

Rather than post questions or comments I just read then form my own opinion and keep it to myself, when I have questions I know who to ask for the correct answer.
This is what I go by. After reading posts on here for a few years, you learn who you can ask and get decent answers.
