My favorite is Quarter Pounder, couldn't be a better name for a drag car
Hey!!! That's me driving the car in that pic!!! I bought it from Jim Pancake, raced it for a little while and sold it to a local guy......
I don't have pics, but how about Jim Dunn's "Fireman's Quickie"???
I'm kinda fond of Brown Sugar.......

That Green Challener looks like one that ran in the 70's named FLYING DUTCHMAN.Quote:
That is Tom's car that was built for him. He actually found the body in upstate NY on a Farm and is was just restored, along with a new spec chassis. Dave Rietz will be building the Hemi this spring and they hope to make some passes on 70% this year. I think Tom is 80 and can't wait to get back int he car!!
Tom Rules In 73 or 74 at the IHRA Spring Nationals at Bristol, Tom had a futuristic Challegner body on his FLying Dutchman Funny Car. The rules only said it had to be a production car but the rules did not say when the car had to be in production. since his was a Dodge show car anbd Dodge said it would be going into production, he got to run it. Wonder what happened to that body? Man do I wish I had kept those old pictures from the 60's and 70's.
The car in the pic is Tom Sneden's car which ran out of Bob Banning Dodge here in MD.

The only ones that really stand-out and immediately make me think of Drag Racing are..... The Blue Max Hemi under Glass Gene Snow's 'Rambunctious' Jungle Jim RamChargers Growing up in Jersey the one thing that really sticks in your memory is: Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha....RACEWAY PARK!!! BTW who knows what song was used as the theme for all those RP radio spots? you know...the Da-na-na-Nah.....Da Na-Na-Nah!! song???

MY FAVORITE ALTHOUGH NOT A MOPAR WAS DON GAYS "BAD NEWS" PONTAIC OUT OF DICKINSON TEXAS. ALSO "THE UGLY DUCKLING" A 62 PLYMOUTH. ALSO HERB MCANDLESS "MR. 4 SPEED".
WOW My neighbor here in East TN had a 62 Dodge or Plymoth Max Wedge named the ugly Duckling Can't remember for sure which it wasI was just a young kid then, but he and his dad owned the local Chrysler Plymouth Dodge Dealership. Small world
Probably the same car. Back in the day it would run at Union Hill Drag Strip outside on Nashille Tn. If I remember correctly it was a 62 Plymouth, maybe light blue in color. It didn't run there all time, but when they would have Super Stock meets.
