I took the wife out for a putt in the Rampage today..
the last time she rode in it was 23 years ago...
when she last drove it(it really is her car) but
she likes it EXCEPT when getting in and out.. it does
set real low and she has bad hips.... she wanted to
make sure on how to drive it so I gave her the 5 minute
demo on the shifter and all the other stuff she isnt
use to... I gave it one short blast and that caught
her attention .. LOL... was a fun putt with her..
I think in the future I will swap it over to a hyd
roller to quiet it down on the valve train noise but
other than that it runs real nice

That's great! Glad to hear you're finally getting to enjoy it after all the work you put in to it. Plan on any long trips to race tracks for Drag Week practice?

I am thinking about running it up to my other house
which is 200 miles door to door, so a run up and back
should give it a good shake down.... I still need to
get it out to a track for some work there... I think
over the winter I might raise it up 1" and change
the spring rates to soften up the ride... it does
sit real low so 1" isnt gonna hurt

Yes... I put the W-2s on it just before we left for
DW and yes that corrected the oil issue... I'm still
gonna see whats wrong with the W-5s and have it corrected

Off topic but just wondering, is there a big power difference?

Not really... when I ported each set the W-5s had
like 7cfm more than the W-2s... but I just dont want
the added 40# on the front end.. also on the W-2s
I can run 3/8 push rods where on the W-5s I have to
run 5/16 so there is maybe less deflection on the
W-2 set up

My wife is afraid to ride in mine due to vertigo.
I got a sticker and drove it 24 miles last weekend. Now I'm ready to try making a few runs down the strip before putting it away for winter.

Its a 83... the wife quit running it in 88 and I
drove it for a few years before I spit a half shaft
and sorta set it aside... we both had other cars/trucks
back then so it sat and when we moved into this house
I put it behind the pole barn(dont ever let any ride
set with weeds and stuff growing up under them)..
thats when the bottom rotted out

Don was that with off set lifters... with the centered
lifters I JUST clear the PR hole and I did clearance
them as far as I can go(I actually busted through
one port and had to seal it up)

I guess I ported too much and when I went to clearance
for 3/8 PRs it didnt work out... so I went with .120
wall 5/16 sticks... I might go with off set lifters
if I get these heads to work... I'm using TD rockers
on all my stuff

Mike, I know how you feel about the W5 heads. After fooling with mine for about 3 yrs I finally sold them. I like you had a set of W2s to replace them with but the performance really took a hit. My W5s flowed 325 and I don't know about the W2s. However the W2s were ported in David Vizards shop. I lost about 2 tenths in the 1/8th. I also ran 3/8 pushrods and also had to sleeve one hole. I wish I had a good set.

I had PR oiling on the W-5s and I still have it on
the W-2s but with the standard oiling also

Yeah I am enjoying the street... it will see the track
some but its just a quick street rod... if I get all
the suspension working right it should be a flat 10.0
car which is what I wanted it to run... if it tips
into the 9s I'll just slow it down(no license anymore)
but thanks guys... I'll see if the wife can do a video
of it.... gotta run... its waiting to run again today
and I'm gonna take it over to the paint supply place
for a couple of things I need to pick up

I just got back from the paint store and had my first
trans problem... ran fine going there then on the return
it didnt want to shift out of first/low gear.. figured
it might be low on fluid so I pulled over and checked
that... it was a touch low so I topped it off... still
wouldnt shift so I drove back home with it in low
gear till about a mile away from home.. then it shifted
into high OD... I checked the cable and that seems to
be fine(figured it might have melted) but I'll have
to look better.. it shifted into neutral and park fine..
I sure hope I dont have to pull the trans... it acted
like the cable was burt through and stuck in manual low...
sure did rev on the way home at 35 mph with 4.10 gears
