With the car not running and trans in neutral the output shaft should turn both directions correct? Now that I think of it that is a stupid question but anyways I have troubles.

Let me explain a little more.I made a pass last night at norwalk and the trans acted funny shifting into 2,3 by sliding and not slamming[RMVB]on the pass I could feel it slipping, not gaining rpm/pullin like it should.I got my time slip and in 1st gear it was slow to move but no noise.I got to my trailer and the car stutters in reverse and sluggish in forward.I winched the car out today and it got stuck and I had to rock the car to free it to roll back several times.I put the car on stands and removed the drive shaft and the rear end seems to be fine but I cant turn the trans both ways like when winching it out.

Fluid smell like burnt fish? If it does, drop the pan & see if there is any debris. Sounds like u have some fried clutches.

The trans turns both ways , one way is easier than the other because one way the rear sprag is free and the other way it doesn't and you are spining thru the planets .

PULL THE TRANS AND CHECK EVERYTHING ...

Ya the fluid is just a little darker and has a slite smell to it but I have pulled the pan and there is no specs of any kind but a loose rear band[to the back of the trans]I have yet to see how loose[how many turns adj]but I did adj it 4 runs ago and it is a fresh trans.Maybe the band was not seated and is now but the 4 runs I did felt fine.

Something was binding enough to hold the car on a hill several times while winching it out of the trailer.

Like JohnRR said, the trans will rotate harder pushing the car backwards. But it shouldnt be hard enough to bind your car from coasting backwards like you suggest.

I dont know whats wrong, but I know I wouldnt try to run it again untill I figured out the problem, even if that means the tranny has to come apart, and it probably does.

Yes but more like totally out, pulled axles, brakes with just the gears in it.

Is the Trans hard to turn in both directions? If so the tolerance of the clutch pack is possibly too tight. This will make it even harder to rotate as the car is being winched out of the trailer and or being pushed backwards.

I am confident it does but would not bet my life on it.

When I tested at the track it felt like gears binding going in reverse just backing up 5 ft.and I had to rock the car hard to free it winching out of trailer every few feet.

Output shaft seized in the rear support would be my guess....or a distressed sprag. Either way it should come out for inspection.

A healthy factory sprag will usually make a squealing noise when turning the tailshaft in the forward direction...not sure if the Coan will too.

I got a spare yoke to turn the output shaft and the planet gear inside the shell[front clutch reatainer] looks to be where the trouble is.I think maybe a snap ring came loose or something holding a gear in that shell. I tested it in all but park.

Snap ring , probably not , 2 things happen , the splines strip out of the planet or the shaft breaks right there.

Thanks for your insight! The splines stripping is likely with it locking like it did.I wont have it inspected for a while but I will update at the time.
