From the sound of it, you better order 2 or 3 more! Think they are gonna be a better seller than the SR's?
Exactly 610 posts on old board, first whacked post in the history of this one!
Funny moparts quote from Waginator:

well....i think the std port version i have are sold too.
will they be more popular than SR's??
for the time being i'm sure they will be.
they're new, and they fill a niche the SR's dont.....big intake port, std height exhaust port.
this is just the ticket many people have been looking for....but not everyone.
here is how i see it.....
last year there was a bunch of hype and anticipation surrounding the release of the Bulldogs........and frankly, i was kinda disappointed with the product after how they had been pumped up.
the EZ is more what i was expecting to see out of the BD head last year.
something that had the std exhaust height, and pretty big flow numbers with minimal(or no) porting.

Andy, they come with 2.19/1.81-11/32 stem valves, about 5.350" long. same pieces used in the 440-1 and SR's, and as with those heads, the EZ's will also accept a 2.25 intake valve.

Hey Fast, maybe post some prices in the engine stuff for sale section!
i'd prefer for anyone interested to either give me a ring, or PM me about which version they're looking for, and how they need them set up(roller, non-roller, etc), and if they need the "kit" or just the heads.
lotsa variables here, so rather than spit out a price that wont fit many peoples needs, i'd prefer to price them out per the application.
that being said however.....IMO they are priced pretty attractively.

So the only catch for stock upgrades is you gotta have a big mouth intake?

not exactly.
there are 4 versions.....2 ported, 2 unported.
440EZ-unported, std intake port opening, std rockers, through the head oiling
440EZ-1 -unported, MW intake port opening, std rockers, through the head oiling
440EZ-CNC295 -CNC ported 295cc intake runner, MW intake port opening, std rockers, external oiling
440EZ-CNC325 -CNC ported 325cc intake runner, MW intake port opening, offset intake rockers, external oiling

FWIW, i had no problem with the ICH prices being posted, and had no part in the prices being removed from this thread.
one thing i should mention about these heads and the basic pricing is, the advertised prices for these heads is with the std equipment, and no upgrades.
the heads come standard with single springs(like a Comp 911), stamped 7deg locks, 7deg retainers, and umbrella seals.
if you get them from Indy, and dont ask for anything different, this is how they would come.
all of the sets i get for my stock will have 10deg retainers and locks, dual springs for either a .650 lift solid or roller cam, and premium valve seals.
these are $100 worth of upgrades if you bought the heads from ICH.
obviously, premium roller valve springs and titanium retainers are also available for specific applications.
okay....i had a chance to tweek the valve job and bowls on the std EZ head, and i have the CNC295's here now as well.
here is the std EZ with the valve job corrected, valves back cut, and the bowls blended.
on the intake this was worth nothing in terms of the "big number", but it did help in the lower and mid-lifts.
the exhaust responded a bit better, and is now not bad at all.
lift-----I/E
.100--73.1/65.1
.200-145.5/105.7
.300-207.3/144.8
.400-254.7/179.2
.450-273.9/193.6
.500-290.2/204.1
.550-300.9/210.6
.600-300.9/217.1
.650-306.3/223.7
.700-309.9/227.6
for sure, this is the easiest of the std port opening, 300+ cfm heads available.

here are the numbers for the CNC295's, right OOTB.
the intake valve comes with a back cut on these, and i have a feeling based on the .100 lift flow numbers, that the contact pattern between the head and valve may be hanging off the inside edge of the valve.
out of curiosity i'll lap one in prior to recutting the seats and see if this is the case or not.
also, on the exhaust, the transition from the valve job into the bowl has a rather obvious edge that i think is costing the exhaust flow a few CFM.
i'll be retesting the head after the seat work is done.
lift-----I/E
.100--76.6/55.9
.200-155.5/104.5
.300-225.5/145.5
.400-278.7/185.1
.450-298.0/200.1
.500-317.0/211.9
.550-331.4/222.4
.600-338.5/227.6
.650-340.3/234.1
.700-342.1/238.1
so, the big number isnt "wonderful", but the mid lift is really good on these intake ports.
i dont know this for sure(i'll have to ask next time i'm talking with ICH), but i believe this is the same intake port program as for the SR CNC295.
so, for the low deck guys(or guys who dont have headers for their B and E bodies yet), this intake port with the taller, higher flowing SR exhaust port should be a really nice combination.

Well, the EZ-1's are sold, and the buyer is going to have the valve job corrected, chambers polished, valves back cut, and the exhaust ports tweeked.
i'm going to try and get one cylinder done that way this coming weekend so i can get some numbers from the heads with those minor mods.
Sounds good. The intakes seem very good out-of-the-box, it will be nice to hear the first attempt at a quick exhaust improvement. The E-heads exhaust responded very well to porting. But IMO, it took a bit of metal removal, and I don't know if that much work is planned for this attempt.
EDIT:
It looks like you posted the result while I was typing!
You got the low lift intake up with the simple prep/mod.
It looks like the exhaust low lift responded to the back cut, etc. also. The higher lift flow is now up to what the EZ-1 head flowed out-of-the-box. I thought these had the same exhaust port? Do you think each head from Indy might have that much variation in the exhaust port flow? Since you didn't do anything to the rest of the port, do you think the high lift exhaust flow was due to a bad valve job and bowl blend on the std EZ you have?
Also, I thought you were going to first tweak the EZ-1 head, not the standard EZ head?

Jim, the EZ-1 exhaust port has the short turn CNC'd, and the std EZ does not.
basically, i just fixed the valve job and made the std EZ exhaust short turn about the same as the EZ-1(which is why it basically flows the same now).
i knew i wasnt going to be doing much modifying to the std EZ's, and wanted to get them ready to deliver in case someone was eager for a set , so thats what i did yesterday(as well as flow test a bunch of heads).
also, nice little chart.
i wasnt really too concerned with the intake flow on the std EZ's, but the exhaust is kinda weak OOTB.
i was hoping that would show a worthwhile gain from the prep work...which it did, and i think it helps balance out the intake/exhaust ratio.
Rudy,
i just have to tweek the valve job, and then these will be ready to go.
should have them on the motor sometime this week, then its off to the dyno.
on this "mild" 448, i dont think the CNC porting will be worth all that much.....but you'll already have it when you step up to the 499 next time around.

Dwayne,
Can you post a basic CSA for the CnC head????
Just H x W, forget the radius, .. at the push rod pinch, ..the short turn apex and 1/2 between the two.
Based on the flow numbers, .. and the other Indy CnC stuff I've seen, I'll bet the short turn isn't right.
Good job on all the research and posting for the crowd, ...
Curtis
