Just what we need another cylinder head that flows in the mid 340 cfm range.
as mentioned before i really believe brodix should be casting/selling the PSO's over the orginals but as far as big flow heads aren't we covered with the big indy and NRC stuff? imho mid to upper 300's fills a lot of orders especially considering (as mentioned) we're woefully short on block choices that will contain the HP the larger heads will make anyhow.
i fully agree that the block situation is where the aftermarket SHOULD be looking. we probably have a dozen head choices now although i think Brewer has thrown in the towel which is a shame cause that is a nice working head.

I agree, the race head only market is pretty much covered. You have the B1-MC and Indy 572-13 with the ultimate wedge design. The offerings from NRC and the B1-TS cover the 'pro-stock" type of head for mega power. Then you have the Indy Legend and the Stage V Hemi heads that flow over 500 CFM. The problem is, the Indy SR, B1-BS, and Mopar Stage 6 are all scaled down race heads that are being used on the street. The Edlebrocks, Bulldogs and now the Indy EZ, ARE designed for the enthusiasts who primarily drive their cars on the street, BUT, want high end performance..like chevy and ford have enjoyed for years. I like it..these heads will make ALOT of guys happy!

the 440 ez is probably a better entry level hot rod head. i've always considered the edelbrock to be more of a street-strip performance head. i know folks are doing pretty good with eddies, and they do fill the "true bolt on" niche. the 440 ez, with some prep, will probably kick the power level up a notch. and yes, the block issue is a problem ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif) .

Well, the RB block is definitely a problem, but I keep hearing about people making really good power with lowdeck blocks. For example, what about that guy with the orange challenger and a big centrifugal blower? He runs a company that makes blower kits for big block chryslers if I remember right. Isn't he using a junkyard 383 block and steel crank? He's making something ridiculous, like 1300 hp, and has been for quite some time. Or, am I remembering something wrong?

Maximumwedgehead, I also had problems with Muscle Motors and a set of 440-1 head I had bought from them. The valve tips had been mushroomed, couldnt get lash caps on them. Also, they had wrong valves in them (was told was going to get Ferrea, ended up getting REV valves). Talk to Mike,he'll set you straight.

intake bowl. here you can see the way they have been CNC blended, along with how nicely the guide boss has been streamlined.

Got any pics of an SR to compare these to? I've never even seen an SR, though I've ordered a pair!

IMO, the 440EZ-1 is going to need very little work for most guys looking at stepping up into a MW sized head. i think all i'd do to run them is tweek the valve job, back cut the valves, and see if i could find another 10-15cfm from the exhaust side without working too hard at it.
the std EZ is really a MW sized port, with a std sized flange cast onto the port. i actually would have preferred them making the whole port a little smaller for the std flange intake crowd. something around 245-250 cc's is what i would have shot for.....but that would have taken a different casting.
for the low deck guys who want to run the std flange intakes, i think i still like the SR's a bit better. you can run std RB headers on them, and the exhaust port is quite a bit better, and the intake port has proven itself to be a good performer for years. i also prefer the external oiling.....especially if you're running big springs and aggressive cams. you very rarely hear of someone with Indy heads having pushrod or adjuster screw problems, and i feel the better top end oiling is at least part of the reason why.
fortunately, these became available prior to the racing season really getting underway, so there should be some track results with these things before too long.

here is the logo on the end of the head.
yes, that is ICH's valve job....and these arent too bad as far as that goes.
but....alot of the reason they "look" good is because of the blue die.
if you wipe that away and see ALL of it....it doesnt look so good anymore.
will it work? sure.....but they dont stay fresh very long from what ive seen of the used heads that have come through the shop, and the concentricity is often "iffy", which leads to accelerated guide wear.

in response to the guys not happy with the MM valve work....it just proves that it does make a difference where you buy these products.
some shops just pay more attention to the details than others.

well, the EZ-1's are sold, and the buyer is going to have the valve job corrected, chambers polished, valves back cut, and the exhaust ports tweeked. i'm going to try and get one cylinder done that way this coming weekend so i can get some numbers from the heads with those minor mods.
