The new parts that I'm making now use captured O-rings. So the motor plate can come off without changing gaskets or scraping RTV.

I am using a factory water pump with a motor plate and run it with the Moroso belt driven setup. It will be a while before I can post pics, I am at work. I am also using gaskets but don't get a chance to race a whole lot right now. I think Pittsburghracer mentioned something about gaskets getting alot of abuse so it has me thinking about changing up at the end of the season. Also want to upgrade pumps to. Forabodiesonly has a CSI unit for sale if you are interested.

Hi Mr.PBody!

Better get inside Ma. Looks like a storm's comin'.

Yes, the parts that I'm making now will have O-rings on both the timing chain housing as well as the motor plate. So no gaskets are required.

I started to build SB motor plates a while back. They fit A-body cars and have a built in alternator mounting point. They work best with the Meziere pump and plate.

Now if you'd just whittle one up for a Weber belt drive set up so I wouldn't have to hack one together with my jigsaw!

I have this design which might fit a Weber belt drive.

No gaskets are needed for the water pump, or the motor plate.

What are you guys using for a water pump with a motor plate? I had planned to use a stock pump but it isn't looking so good. Anyone able to post pics? Also having a tuff time on the alternator mounting. could use some good pics of that as well.

Thanks in advance. Jim

I don't think so. Don't the low deck blocks have a different water pump bolt pattern?

I don't see it on your page Andy.I don't the hole would cause that much problem. How thick of a engine plate can you make for a SB E body? ( Like Marty's old W8 turbo engine)

Sorry, not a very good picture, but I ran this setup on my 340 for many years every weekend the track was open. Used paper gaskets both sides of the motor plate with a thin layer of RTV. It's a stick car launched at 7,000 RPM, so it's definitely applying some torque to the motor plate! No leaks or cooling problems ever.

If it ain't broke ... you're not pushing it hard enough.

Do you have a front pic of the stock WP install? I curious how you got the lower hose to fit. Jim

Well I gave up on using my Clay Smith mech. fuel pump today. I was going to have to purchase an electric WP to use it. So I opted to use the WP set I already had. I will by an elec. FP. I'm thinking a Mallory 250. Anyone have a better pump for the money?

I have been happy with the Mallory pump(s) I have used. On another note, the gasket between the back of the plate and the timing chain cover lost itself last nite. Not too sure which direction to go just yet, I am leaning towards an electric.
