Please give me some recommendations on what rear band I should have installed in my modified 727..behind a 575-600hp 440. Thanks in advance for your opinions! Randy B.

Call John at CRT.

Stock low/rev drum - use Kevlar or Red lined

Aluminum low/rev drum - Red lined, no grooves

If you are using a non LBA valvebody, it will only be used in Reverse and not be subjected to much wear.

I prefer the Red lined.

John

if its not an aluminum drum a band from your local trans parts supplier will be fine, rear band is only on when in rev or it is holding in manual if the vb has low band apply.

Thanks guys! Sounds like the rear band isn't that crucial..but,I want something that will last a good while. The drums are factory steel. My VB is a TA Cheetah..reverse shift pattern, and of course,is manual shift.

Randy is it a low band apply VB ? If not a stock one will last longer than you will ever drive the car .

Low band apply is just what it sounds like , put the trans in 1st , the band applies and holds it , releases on the 1-2 shift , a non LBA , band only applies in reverse and low gear holds against the rear sprag.

if it has LBA wouldn't it have engine braking in first? my turbo action cheetah has no engine braking in first so that should mean no low band apply right?

Correct... if it has LBA the engine will slow the car
in manual low gear... a non LBA will just free wheel
(the engine does not slow the car)

Must be a LBA valve body...it definitely slows the car down when downshifting from 2nd gear! Thanks fella's!
