I have some pics of an AAR tribute race car being built a few years ago that follows the original cars modifications very closely. I'll post up some pics when I get home. They duplicated the roll cage, front and rear suspension and so on. The owner is involved in SCCA and has some connections so he was able to get accurate info on how the cars were built originally. Also, here are some pics I got off of Gurney's site before he took the picture pages down

Craig Jackson owns & drives the #48 Barracuda; he wrecked it a while back, but he was back in it last year @ Monterey. Don't know if he's sold it since then. Not the fastest guy out there, but it was cool to see the car again.
A lot of pre-'67 Mustangs run in the vintage A Sedan class now, but I haven't seen any Darts or Barracudas running; wonder where they are? Someone needs to step up!

Don't those cars have to be original with docs for that group?

The only original 66 Darts or Barracudas that I know is that 66 Ferris Motors D-Dart that is in Washington know. I think it's for sale too.

Gotta have the brass tag the SCCA issued & attached to the cage back in the day and the log book, as well as some proof, to run with the group that Ken Epsman runs. When Epsman took over from the previous guy he also tightened up the period-authentic deal, which is why he had the Jerry Schwartz bodywork cut off the Penske/Woods '69 Camaro.
At various times Epsman's owned many of the most significant cars; he's kind of the Bruce Meyer of Vintage TransAm.
Other groups are more lenient from what I hear.

This is my understanding as well. Aside from the cars being real and era correct, there is a bit of a vetting process as far as what drivers they will let in the vintage T/A group. If you have been involved in incidents, they will definitely look twice at you. Part of their deal is to put on a good show for the crowd.

If someone wanted to build and race a no-history car, there are other quite a few vintage groups with T/A style classes that you can run with.

Always thought that was a LOT of recognition color! Reminded me of the old Yardley F1 scheme.

At first read that sounds a little uppity, but then no one wants some hot dog with a souped clone rubbing fenders and showing off against a classic, and then it makes sense.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
