I need a 3 speed wiper motor and dash switch for 68 Charger.

All I see are 2 speed (Cardone) motors and 2 speed switches (eBay-stupid expensive)

Am I doomed to on/off wiper speeds?

Did Chrysler really make 2 different motors for 2 and 3 speed wipers?

Can you point me to a good vendor for these parts?

The 2-spd wipers were STANDARD for the '68 Charger, 3-spd wipers were OPTIONAL (Req'd w/426 HEMI).
the 2-spd switch has 3 positions: OFF-LOW-HIGH
the 3-spd switch has 4 positions: OFF-LOW-MEDIUM-HIGH

Hmm... I read 2 speed was off-on and 3 speed was off-low-high. Waddya know, bad info off the Internet...

Thanks for setting me straight.

Isn't off actually reverse for parking? So technically speaking, when in reverse it does have a certain speed until it quits. Ha! as the Car Guys say. You've wasted a perfectly good hour...

So is it just the switch that makes the multiple speeds? or do you need a motor to match the switch also?

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

for the 68-70 B body, to convert from 2 spd wipers, you need the correct 3 spd wiper motor and 3 spd switch, the underdash harness already has provisions for the 3spd switch, kinda plug and play...

Good question.

On the two-speed motor assembly there is a resistor block (looks like a balast resistor) that slows the motor down. The dash switch sends power through the resistor on low speed or direct to the the motor on high.

On the three-speed motor the speed is controlled by the windings on the motor and the switch sends power directly to the appropriate winding for the selected speed.

To convert to three-speed you need the following:
3-speed motor
3-speed switch
3 speed wiper link/arm and bushing

"I think" you need to add a connector to the harness since the 2-speed has terminals on the motor and the 3-speed motor has a harness.

This is all you need. No extra connectors or mods.
