Hey guys, I'm gonna make an attempt to try to attach a picture. Is this the bracket you guys are using for this shifter? How much work is it to get to use this shifter? Anyways looking for some ideas when I get ready to install it.
Thanks!
Zak

That looks like a bracket Hurst made in the 60s-70s for the comp plus shifter into 62-65 B-body cars. It took long rods and wasn't the best piece Hurst made.

Well first you need to find or make the linkage for that mounting bracket. I have seen them on Ebay before direct from Hurst. What body are you going to use it in?

The one I had back years ago had a solid plate that
mounted the shifter.. not some sheet metal ... the
rods on that look thin... mine had 3/8" rods with 1/2"
sleeves over the rods.. very beefy and worked great
EDIT
I think mine was just called a super shifter.. not a 3
so maybe they got cheap over the years

Alright cool, gives me some ideas..I've heard it will require some cutting to make this work, which looks like it will set back some?

I had 2 super shifters back in the 70s, the brackets looked exactly like the ones in the picture from Ebay. The purpose of the bracket was to raise the shifter to improve the geometry between shift rods and shifter arms.

I use the super shifter 3 but with stock mounting plate and homemade rods. Work really good.

Essentially mounts the shifter in what would be a stock location for an a body, for a straighter throw. Seen them used on later (68, 69) B bodies, too. Requires some cutting of the floor tunnel on a B body. Try A body shift rods with this set up...

Those are the rods you need. Can't tell by the pics if the keys are correct. The biggest problem you will find is keeping that whole mess from rattling loose. I'm still fighting mine.

if you didn't have the square top 4 speed A-body tunnel, you were hacking up the tunnel to fit. Super Shifter 3 has a seperate stick for reverse, and straight rods for the forward gears. Mine had heim joints on it, fun to row that shifter, only thing quick was a Verti-Gate.

Thanks for the post guys, the plan was to see what this mounting plate looked liked and buy some heim ends and rods from speedway, and go from their. Maybe I'll see what the stock shifter plate looks also.

make your own Zak...use Heim joints ...thread the rods and bolt the joints to the selectors....
