Just got an aluminum Driveshaft with 1350 joints for my 904 to Dana 60 set up. Changed the Pinion yoke to 1350. What are the best straps to use for durability?

Been told by many that the straps are just more less a locator and I`ve been running stock ones forever and that the u-bolt types that have a nut on the back can actually distort the caps.

Does it have straps or does it need U bolts Most of the stock Dana pinion yokes I've seen use U bolts, includig the stock OEM Dana 60 pickup 1350 pinion yokes

I know the Strange Yokes have a near interference fit and basically 'girdle' or "register' the U-joint by not allowing them to move axially, the straps merely retain the trunion caps in place and don't need a lot of torque (like 20 ft/lbs).

Dr. Diff has really nice forged (Strange style) yokes for sale very reasonably (like 80 bucks), I almost bought one from him but forgot I had bought a Strange sometime back and never used it.

I just checked the yoke and its a Spicer unit. My bad,the holes have no threads in them, so it probably will need U bolts. Any brand that you guys have had good luck with? I have tore up a lot of this stuff in the past that's why I went 1350.

Bolts VS the U-bolts really has NO BEARING on if one
is stronger than the other.... if you look at how the
U-joint sits in the yoke you will understand... most
people dont realize that the U-joint sits in the yoke
OVER 50% of the diameter and being that its OVER 50%
it loads the yoke and NOT the straps or u-bolts..
the biggest trucks all run the strap type mounts...
I run a 1.19 60' and its with the stock type straps..
the fancy cradle cup covers are the WORST thing you
can use... they will bind unless you have almost zero
pinion angle..... but they look cool... all the strap
or U-bolt does is keep the u-joint from moving forward
and has almost zero load.. except for the friction
in the front yoke trying to slide a bit
EDIT
This is what I run... pretty cheap and its been working
14 years now... being you have no threads you have use the U-bots

Thanks Raff that's what I wanted to know, there's a big difference in price in some of this stuff and I was wondering if the more expensive bolts were worth the money.

I have a Dr Diff forged yoke. He told me to run the stock Auto parts U-bolts, they are 3/8". Most failures are over torqued.
