I'm in the process of rebuilding my heater box. The blower motor is in need of replacement. I've looked at replacement motors but the appearance is slightly "off" from the factory original.
I have a rear window defroster unit that I doubt I will put in the car. Could that motor be used for the heater since it is a factory motor in excellent condition? Are they the same or would there be differences?

For beginners the shaft size is not the same.
Motor is shorter and less powerful.

Thanks Jules. Any idea where I can locate a factory black motor for a non-ac car. I don't need date coding.

Are there any off the rack blower motors that fit even if not 100% correct appearing?

Sorry Jim I cannot answer that because I simply do not know.
Shaft size is very important and max.RPM speed also.
Jim while I have you here, can I send you a small gasket for headlight motors
and you can tell me if you can make some for me?
Tx

P.S. Maybe check with the Siemens catalog. They may have one.

I can do those. Shoot me one. Wit an end cap if you can so I can test fit.
