The question was is their any good reason to run high test if it just calls for regular? Would you get any better performance? Would it be better or worse for the plugs and injectors? Just wondering if it would make any significant difference?
I've always run recommended 89 for normal driving and high test when towing. Why? Sustained heavy load (pulling a long hill with heavy trailer) builds heat and can cause detonation. The knock sensor may prevent engine damage by pulling timing... but cuts power when its needed most. Reduced timing also hurts mileage. That's why I run the high test when towing.
