My 2010 Avenger 2.4L engine has a hesitation that feels as if you shut the key off for a second, then it picks right back up. Mostly during part throttle acceleration such as taking off from a dead stop. Other times it's when accelerating to get around a slower car.
I was thinking of:
A: Throttle Position Sensor
B: Crank Sensor
C: Cam Sensor
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Dave

My 08 Sebring has done this twice in the last month.

My '04 Sundance did this quite a bit once it hit 200,000 miles. Never did figure out what it was. My buddy drove the car until 240,000 before it went to the junkyard.

No, it has 85,000 miles on the 36,000 mile warranty.
At least if there was a fault code it would be much easier to diagnose.

That's the basic warranty. The powertrain warranty should be 5 years, 100,000 miles.

While trying to think what could be causing the hesitation issue, it was time to fill up with gas. I decided to run a tank of Premium just as an experiment. So far, the hesitation is 99% cured.
Spark plugs are next.

There were some issues with the throttle bodies on the 2.4s that caused this problem. The problem was with the electric motor that operates the throttle not being able to move the sticking throttle blade, causing a hesistation sometimes. You may try cleaning the throttle body real good and see if this helps.

Thanks, I'll try the throttle body cleaning too.

I highly doubt the powertrain warranty will cover drivability issues. I second the throttle body cleaning
