It's hard to do and see at the same time but if you take a flashlight and look in there you'll see where the slot that lock rod went into. Find a screwdriver that will fit the slot and you are good to go. I know it sounds easier than it is. I had a 64 Ply that was missing the lock. When I would get it open I would think now I know the trick for the next time. Then I would work my rear off the next time trying to find that slot again. The slot on mine was vertical but there was a slot lower that was horizontal that kept throughing me off and I would try using it by mistake.

Not on a Cuda. The lock is over by the pass tail light and has a rod that goes to the latch.

OOPS! But you now know how to get in my Ply so I'm sending the guys in dark suits and glasses to have a talk with you.

If you remove the license plate light lens, you still have the light housing in your way and it is attached from the trunk side.
I know that but you can still gain access to the latch.

Take out the back seat. A little grunting and pulling and it will come out. Then use a couple extra long 2 or 3ft extensions to remove the latch from the rear mount while sitting comfortably in the floor where the back seat used to be. OK so it won't be comfortable but a fat butt like mine can't squeeze into the trunk as easy as I can use a couple really long extensions or a half dozen shorter ones.
