I was wondering what the best initial set up is on the above distributor. 500(RB)Stroker: Hydraulic Roller Cam Duration .050 Intake 252 Exhaust 256, .573 Lift Intake, .567 Lift on Exhaust and 109 separation. Six Pack set up, TTI Headers (2"Primary 3.5 Collectors) 4.11 gears and tremec 5 speed. Not positive on the power curve yet but it should be all in below 6000....any tips on set up would be great - thanks in advance....

With all the different variables from different parts used I'd suggest using the "vacuum gauge method" to find the ideal that YOUR eng needs then with that # in hand shorten the slots to get your desired total (as you know initial + slots = total). Not sure if the big block std 36-38 for total is still valid for a stroker. Then springs then vac adv (if used). I would start at 10 for a mild cam & 15 for a wild cam

With what comes with the distributor?

Black bushing and two blue springs. Time it at your total number and go. If you wnat to get it better, you'll likely need a larger bushing than the black one that comes in the kit.

I wouldn't be surprised if the best setup turns out to be a locked distributor with a retard to start... And if the engine has good tight quench it may only want 30-32 degrees of timing...

It's more cylinder head than stroke. If you're using an open chamber B head, it'll probably settle out at 38 degrees total.

I am running a 512 stroker with the following cam specs:
Scott Brown Hydraulic 3-Bolt, Grind# 242/254H12/Duration @ .050" Int:242 Ex:254/Advertised Duration: Int: 286 Ex: 309/Lift @ Rocker: Int:.563" Ex:.548"

I purchased a couple of larger bushings from FBO and now have my MSD dialed in at 22 initial and 36 total.

My 496 with MSD Pro Billet distributer made 570 HP and 630 torque with 34 degrees of timing. I don't remember initial setting but I think it was 16 degrees
