I'm officially tired of the exhaust leaks on my truck, and going back to manifolds. Of course I threw my manifolds away when I put the headers on, so now I'm on the hunt for a pair. My truck is a 4X4 with a 5.2. My question is: Do some manifolds flow better than others, and if so, what year vehicle(s) did they come on???

Im told that the 92 318 magnum manifolds have the larger outlet, but from 93 to 01 magnum 318 & 360 the manifolds got a smaller outlet. The magnum exh manifolds are suppose to flow about as good as a set of 340 manifolds

Yup: 92's are are the best, I don't know if they fit in that modern body style though.

The early magnum manifolds had larger outlets, but I'm not sure you'd find any real gains from them. I have both the early and late manifolds. Contact me if you need a set.

The 92-93 manifolds had the 2 1/8 outlets compared to the later 1 7/8 outlets. If desired, look for 92/93 and extremely early 94 model vehicles. Theoretically they flow better, but the gain will be negligible in a daily driver. Car Craft and Dulcich did a dyno test of the exhaust options on a 360 years ago and the difference between log manifolds and 340 manifolds was not that impressive at most rpm. Magnum manifolds are about the same (maybe better ?) than 68-70 340 manifolds.

The other difference is that the 92-95 passenger side manifolds were drilled for EGR while the later manifolds were not.

They also like to crack just before the middle cylinder outlets, toward the front, in that neck area.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I'll go with the OE type since my shorties direct replacement for the old manifolds. While we're on the subject, who makes the best gaskets? I only want to do this once...

Try to get original mopar gaskets (you can try the dealer), just my $.02

by the way, that's a classic header problem, many before you have had the same experience. don't feel too bad
