He sells direct, and gives you mounting bolts. shroud nuts and correct overflow hose.
I believe your looking for something that isn't.
Quality costs.

I guess you must purchase all your repo panels directly from AMD, rather than buy from other distributors that discount. Must be nice to have unlimited cash, unfortunately I shop around for the best price like the other peons.

And Glen Ray should discount to you because.... you buy so much from him? Yeah, nobody deserves to make a buck anymore. I'll just save a little longer to avoid being a peon.

I am not looking to buy from them directly, why pay full retail! As a manufacturer they are required to sell at full retail. I have not asked them for a discount either, unless I buy a bunch, then I would. I am looking for a distributor, please read the post, seems you did not read it completely like my customers on eBay.

Hopefully someone will chime in and recommend an distributor of their line where I can get a price below full list. I am sure there are many here who would like that also, unless they have money to burn.

I believe Scott Smith/Harms Automotive is a distributor for Glen Ray...drop him a PM here on Moparts

Mike

Thanks, I saw it on his website, but he states pricing is same as Glen Ray, so did not inquire, besides I think shipping from where he is located would be more than from GR, at least for me (NY).

Gotta think someone else out there carries them too. It benefits everyone if we can locate a more cost effective source.

Maybe someone should contact them about a Moparts discount for all members, or maybe we can get a group purchase going to negotiate a better deal, just ideas. Many sites have deals going on with manufacturers, why not try to hook up with them?

PM radiatorman here on Moparts, you can talk to the source of course!

Call Glen-ray and talk to them. The reproduction radiators are expensive because they have to pay royalities to Chrysler for the reproduction stampings. If you have correct tanks, they can restore them, and I think even restamp the part numbers to build the radiator at a slightly lower cost. Quality and service is very good.

Max you are correct, I sell them for the same price, offer the same show discounts (or any other promotion that Bob offers) and also include date coding and the bolts and small parts. I usually have Bob drop ship them when the customer is located out of my area so shipping as well as lead times are the same as well. Bob is a great guy and we have an agreement that is fair to all, whomever you buy from I can promise that you'll get the same deal and end up as a happy camper.

Thanks!

MaxHeadroom - while it's understandable that you're looking for the best deal possible on a reproduction radiator, there are many key differences between a company like AMD and a company like GlenRay.

AMD is a multi-million dollar enterprise manufacturing and importing hundreds, if not thousands of different part numbers, and not just for old Mopars. They need a lot of channels to market and a distributor that can do a lot of volume can more easily afford to share some of their margin with you. Witness the group buys on AMD sheetmetal that get posted here from time to time.

GlenRay is for all intents and purposes a 1-man cottage industry that specializes in correct reproduction Mopar radiators and power steering coolers. It is a much more limited market with significantly fewer SKUs, done more as a labor of love. I don't believe that GlenRay would really gain anything from broader distribution and the market on reproduction rads (that people are willing to spend the coin on) has got to be pretty limited.

It's not like the aftermarket aluminum rads which are advertised here every month and usually are on sale at Jegs, Summit and the like.

If price is the biggest concern, then you're probably further ahead to buy an original rad and have it recored/refurbished. GlenRay coming to the market certainly helped to drop the price of used originals. For example, a 3443959 '71 Hemi/440-6/383 with axle package radiators were trading up around $2K and no guarantee on core condition.

Now, they are under $1000, often half that. Other HP radiators are back into the $300 buck range. Add a $400 core and refinish and you're good as new.

I have heard nothing but good things about Bob at GlenRay, and they have been very professional and knowledgeable when I've spoken to them at Carlisle. If you go that route, I don't think you'll be disappointed, regardless of the price.

YMMV

I can't think of any others souce to get them , then Scott or Direct to Glenray.

When I looked into them a few years back, I think ?? if a dealer they are required to maintain manufacturers retail to keep the playing field level

as far as AMD dealers, it's all about who is willing to make the least in hopes to move more. It's become more a price war to see who is willing to undercut who. And that includes the manufactuer always offering specials or lowering retail with no regards to how much stock there dealer network is sitting on

ps, I just had an original 956 recored 2 weeks ago. I get a shop discount ( 10% off ) and it still cost me $435 , add that to a core price and IMO your in similar territory dollar wise

I located a core radiator (tnx, James!) and had Glen-ray restore it. Depending on the price of the core, you could save some....

I Purchased A 956 Radiator From GlenRay A Couple Years Ago, I Dealt With Him At Mopars At The Strip Show Where He Offered A $100 Show Discount, He Then Also Offered Free Date Coding As A Show Special ($100 Value) And To Sweeten It More I Believe He Shipped It To Me For Free. I Thought That Was A Great Discount And Service. Not Sure If The Show Specials Still Exist To That Extent But A Great Experience For Me.

I restore Mopars for a living and have used reproduction parts with hit and miss results just like everyone. Over the years you figure what to use and what not to use again.
I will say that Glen Ray radiators are without exception THE best reproduction part I have ever used. Top quality. And the service from them is also the best. I will continue to use their rads and would recommend them to everyone.
Everyone wants to save money, but you get what you pay for. And really, by the time you spend the time, and fuel or freight to get a core, then have a local place restore it with acceptable results, how much will that cost??

Paid $400 for a used 054, sent top tank and brackets to Bob. He built me an 054 with a new bottom tank, and straighten my top tank. Put in high efficiency core, charged me $500 at the time? Came out like new!!!

Top rated service for sure. Your best bet is see them at Carlisle.

Sent him my 054 for resto. He re-cored it and even replaced a damaged bracket with a correct original date-coded one he had "laying around". To top it off, he sent it back to me on his dime for my evaluation BEFORE requiring payment! He (Bob) wanted me to be 100% happy with it before I sent any money... Now who in this hobby does that?

There are a few. Jim Miner had four new polyglas tires in my garage before the money even came out of my account. But I agree great service.
