Well, it is now October 25, almost 6 months since getting the Sport Satellite on the road . . . so, thought I would up date everyone on the project :

One car show in May - as shake down cruise - only 2 hours from home. no issues !!! So, following weekend, take the car and put 2k miles on it !!! . . . even put it on dyno and see what it makes for rear wheel hp (think it was 185 ??? . . not home so can't look at the sheet) - but even better is see where I need to rejet the carb !!! YAY . . .

Drive around town and always amazed at how many people actually make comments about the car. The color does stand out !!!

So here it is, 6months later, and FINALLY think it is dialed in. EVERY fluid that could leak, has leaked - but, got all the leaks figured out and fixed. Gas mileage is real world 16/17mpg on the highway, really wanted closer to 20mpg, but hey, B body, with 3.23:1 gears and 235/60/15 tires, maybe it is there. I don't know, but am going to build a Thermoquad over the winter to try out.

Got the A/C all charged, and it is ice box cold. Cooling system works awesome (although did have lower hose collapsing at high speed, but fixed that), cruise control works.

Great feeling of accomplishment, since I built this myself, in my garage. I am sure there are people that see it and figure I spent huge $$$$ on it, but really, over the 15years of owning this car, collecting parts, and then finally getting it done, I think the cost is very very low (as a per year average).

So, as the season comes to an end, the purple beasty now resides in the warm garage, with car cover on it, battery tender hooked up and thoughts of next year's shows !!

After all the hellish issues and times to figure out how to get things done, parts cleaned, painted, procured, etc . . . I can truely say it is well worth the effort. It may not be a high dollar restoration, but just goes to show what you can do yourself, with a dream/vision ! To everyone still working on their's, keep it up ! You will make it !!!

Thanks for endulging me . . . .

Cheer (hope to see you at next years car shows) . . .

Mark

Beautiful car!
I would suggest that you pull the battery and have the tender on away from the car.
After rhino's fire, I just don't trust chargers left unattended, even if it's a different charger/battery.

Thanks all ! Good point about the battery tender . . . usually pull it off once in a while . . . but yes, you should keep an eye on them !

Congrats Mark! the car looks beautiful... and the argent on the tail panel, is that a Canadian detail? I'm not an expert on the '70.

Nothing like a B Body ragtop !!! Will be great to take it out with the top down and sun shining !!! Have to post more pics !!!

The argent on the tail panel, was done on all 70 Sport Satellites. Road Runner's, Belvedere's and Satellite's were all body color, and GTX were painted black.

The car is LA car and has N95 California Evap. Emissions Control . . . .

Looks great. Nice to see a sport Satellite . It's a shame alot of people turn them in to poser birds. Awesome job man. I did a 1973 Charger. Worked on it for 5 years. While all my friends were at the bar. I kept cranking away cutting out rusty metal and doing bodywork, endless blocking. It feels so good when people say nice work ,or you get that thumbs up on the highway.
