Anybody know if one brand or another has a better FK5 Deep Burnt Orange formula?

I have a 1970 Dart that I need to shoot under the hood. The owner had the car's exterior painted and the color is off by quite a bit - they used PPG Shopline to paint it. They actually had to shoot it twice because the first batch of paint was way too brown. The owner wants me to match under the hood as close as possible to the original paint color that is still visible under the hood. I don't want to do this more than once...

I'm sure standox has a formula, check there web formula base. I remember having it mixed in PPg DELTRON, but not sure how close it was.. I may have the formula somewhere at home or 1cuda has it on his computer-- you there Frank...

I am going to assume there is no paint left from the last repaint?? I would use PPG again. But keep in mind the chances you getting the color match right the first time may be a challenge. And if you use another brand even less of a chance. Just my opinion. :two cents: LBJ

I am not trying to match the existing repaint - the PPG used is too brown. I am trying to match the real original FK5 color. He plans on repainting the entire car some time down the road and wants the engine compartment to be correct so that when he does repaint the whole thing, he does not need to worry about that part.

If the car's going to be repainted down the road, regardless of how dead a match you may achieve, with what ever brand you choose, BUY ALL THE PAINT NEEDED FOR THE PROJECT NOW, not some now, a little later, ALL OF IT, so there are no issues down the road,...there's no "magical" brand of paint that is dispensed that has the "perfect match" built into it's formula, all paints can be tinted/tweaked to obtain a match, even the same batch of paint sprayed days or weeks later can be altered by spray technique, coverage, humidity, etc, etc, etc,....even when you find a formula/paint mfg that you find desirable, there's no gaurantee that the mixer won't FUBAR the mix/color now, or later on down the road...

Another vote for Standox...

The match was the closest of the chips I got from a variety of paint manufacturers, although not FK5...

Holding-up well...

Got a copy of the formula, just in case...
