Guys I have two different water pumps for my BB and was wondering which would be the best oneto use the 6 or 8 blade?

Thank you

The 8 blade was considered as the AC pump which flowed more

Hemi's came with a six blade. The pulley diameter makes a big difference too. I would go with a six blade. I read something about an 8 blade pushing the coolant too fast for the coolant to work effectively or something to that effect? I always had a 6 blade with no cooling problem.

Depends on what you're trying to do. 8 blades moves more water, especially at lower speeds. For higher engine speeds the 6 blade would be better, but you might have cooling issues at low speeds. Pulley ratio also matters. The factory engineers had this all figured out which is why there are several different cooling packages depending on the application.

"Best" depends on how fast you turn the pump, if the pulley ratio drives the pump close to 1-1 the 8-vane is OK but the factory used the 6-vane when they went to 40% overdrive on the pump.

The 8-vane might cause cavitation at higher rpm.

that's where you get into cooling troubles.. mis-matching pulley sizes and water pumps..

been there.
