Are truck frames the same on sweptline and stepside from 1981 to 1993 4x4 ?? I would think they are ,but have to ask. Working on a 1984 Shortbed stepside 4x4 and if i could find a nice clean 4x4 frame then i could prep and paint get everything done to make the change over faster. Thanks

I recall a mention of cab mount change but believe that's was the cab side of it and something about the bed mounting I've heard changed. All heard on this site. But everything else is the same. Think it was 89-90 they said was slightly diff.

How about earlier frames like 72-80? I bought a frame that had a Ramcharger rear tank installed and came with a stepside bed, 77 cab with VIN, two wheel drive with disc brakes. It had been cleaned and painted then left under pine trees outside for a couple years.

73 up all had disc brackes unless a Powerwagon than it was 74 for Rc/Td and 75 for trucks.
As far as I know 72-93 are pretty much un-changed in design

You may need the forward bed mounts. The tend to be different on a stepside.
