this is drag race only, and right now i have a big pulley on alt. and the hot wire is heavy gauge ran back to cut off switch at back of car and have constant out put regulator. it dosnt charge much at idle if any
How heavy is the wire to the back of the car? 14.5v going that distance will turn into 12v pretty easy from resistance if you are using something other than the starter cable to charge thru and it won't matter what alt you use. I am assuming the battery is in the trunk?
Also depending on how fast it idles, you migh have to go with a smaller pulley.
