Remember how it SMELLED different? I mean as a kid in the 60's I remember smelling the WONDERFUL aroma even as you pulled up to the pumps. It was heady, clean. Smelled like it would Taste good. Nothing like today. Anyone else remember that or am I just in my own little world?
HOLY CRAP - I thought I was the only one who did that - LOL - I remember getting gas with my father/mother and rolling down the window in our 69 Polara and trying to inhale very last fume - still can see the face on my mother " WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ?" from the front seat. Then I found out I could ride my bike down to S&W Dodge and watch all the LOUD and WILDLY COLORED cars come off the car carriers. I mean, who would paint their cars pink, orange, yellow , purple, red, blue and have scoops and spoilers on them, and do burnouts right off the carrier - wish I had a camera then !

Mmmmmmmmmm smells good. Gas back then had a nice golden color to it. Today it looks almost clear.

I was going to mention the color change as well. So let's see, back in the "good ole days" the gas: - smelled better - looked better - tasted better (?) - performed better - and best of all cost less than 35 cents a gallon!
Gee, what went wrong? Oh yeah, the EPA!

Ok,it's been a long time Sunoco 104 Hess 101 Most stations were 100 Not sure but I think Amoco had a 102
Yep and it smelled real good. It tasted better to, kind of like a sweet taste. Yes, I had done my share of syphoning. To fill the lawn mower or use it for cleaning.
Hess 101 alway performed better in my 440-6
Sounds close. My dad sold Amoco back in the day and he said that it was 101. Sunoco 260 was used by all the street racers back then.
