Hello first time on this board, anyways I have an opportunity to purchase a 70 duster 340, rallye gages buckets console, etc. may trade for my 35 th anniversary checked ss CAmaro convert. My question is does any one know production numbers of 340 dusters with fm3 paint?? Also it's a two owner with original white vinyl top n interior has black now. Apart from that it's very nice original motor on a stand with a 360 in it now.. Please advise
Regards

well that just ruined my day, I had a 340 4spd one in the 90's. sold it to get a Super Bee.

There is no known production figure for any color/body/drive train combo. There are only percentage breakdowns showing what percentage of any certain color was applied to a certain body style. When it comes to FM3 A-body cars in 1970, particularly FM3 painted 1970 340 Automatic Dusters, all that can be said for sure is that it's a small number.

I have (around here somewhere) one of GG's option and accessory reports on the 70 Duster and I believe the percentage of pink cars was 414. This is all engines, so yeah, the exact number of pink 340 cars can't be determined. Rare? Oh yeah, especially with the white top and interior. I've had my eye on these cars since about 1990 and have only seen two or three pink/white cars besides my own since then. That's not to say that I've seen them all because I'm sure I haven't, but most that are out there and discovered are hardtops or have black roofs.

I used the 1970 SG 30 for the figure.Yes,since it's derived from the percentage of cars painted FM3 its fairly accurate.
RE: 70 Slant six Duster painted Moulin Rouge(On page 1015 of the F series report)
Total Six Cyl = 133455 built x .6 % = 800.73 Duster 6 cyl in FM3

I gave Galen copys of all the SG 30 pages that I have years (decades )ago....he's probably made some dough off them.

If you are asking about a US spec. '70 340 3-spd Duster - from that same "1970 SG 30 Report", the number is ~ 3,401

the US spec (Y05) 340 Duster (VS29H0) with 3-spd (D13) & painted "moulon rouge" (FM3) is UNKNOWN

I've heard so many conflicting stories on the amount of pink Dusters over the last two decades. My favorite was in the early days when there was supposed to be only 8 or 9 of them. BUT, that was only the number in GGs "registry". So the 414 is just for the VS cars.

a WAG would be in the 50-100 built range

The biggest problem with the knowledge base on a-bodies, as I see it; is they were plentiful, inexpensive, and disposable. Almost 200,000 '70 Dusters built (22,000+ with a 340), documenting 1% (2,000 Dusters and/or 220 340 Dusters) would be a project.

Barry and/or Furyman what numbers have you? I've got info on ~50 340 cars.

& for the trifecta:
VL29 & /6 w/FM3 ~ 801
VL29G0 w/FM3 ~ Furyman??
VS29H0 w/FM3 ~ 414

Thanks for all your help guys, this car here has been off the road since 1976, sad to say but it has sat outside up until I got the car in 2009. Plain jane, 3 speed, black bench seat. It's a long term project. Kyle
