I have thought about manually dropping it from 3-2 but never had the guts to do it at a WOT stab in the fear that it would rev too high too quick. This is why I was looking to be able to modify the auto kick-down feature to keep it safe. Thanks

May be if we use the 426 governor and the 3.23 axle ratio you can have 3 to 2 downshift from 70 to 84 mph as per the shop manual. Will be our target...

My problem is that I want to keep my 3:91's, so I will have to do something with the governor assembly. I have already emailed A&A to see what my governor options might be for this. Note: My valve body has been upgraded with the 71 & later PTK. Thanks

If the '71-later PTK module is installed on a pre-'71 VB the limit valve won't function.

Once again, it's all about the governor and the axle ratio.
A trans with a Hemi governor and and 3.91 gears might not 3-2 kickdown above 70 mph while the exact same trans with 3.23's might still kickdown at 84 mph. The governor only knows the rpm of the output shaft, not the road speed of the car.
84 mph in 2nd gear with 3.23 gears is around 5000 engine rpm, within the limits of the Hemi governor.

A&A transmissions sell many Governor Kits from 5000 to 6000+ rpm... They have 2 different Hemi governor kit 5400 & 5600 rpm. As per shop manual Wide Open Throttle 2-3 Upshift with 3.23 Axle Ratio can be at 93 Mph must equal to around 5800 rpm. Logically I must order the 5800 Rpm Max Wedge governor kit to upshit at 93 mph and kickdown at 3-2 kickdown at 84 mph.

Might tire size account for the ranges that are given on MPH with the various gear sets?

Hemi cars traditionally had 15" tires which were closer to 27" in diameter.
