Had some header built last year for the car and requested 2 3/8 primary and 31 length. How critical is it that the header tubes are equal length. On both sides headers are approximately 31 length with the exception of one tube that is out almost two inches. A friend just a had a set built and his fabricator went to great lengths to make the tubes precisely the same length ?

With a low LSA cam its more important... its gonna have a draw on the cyl at a more persist time to help the next charge... being a fabbed set they should be real close BUT sometimes it just cant happen... my race set are within .1 on all of the tubes

Thanks for the info Mr P. LSA is 112 so this should help minimize the effect of the shorter tube. I was a little tiked to find out the one tube was that much shorter !

It won't make any appreciable difference at all. The most important thing with headers is matching the tube diameter and collector diameter. After that collector length. Primary tube length would be the least of my concerns.

Basically the primary (diameter and length) are the rpm range and the collector is torque... being that you have a 112 LSA its not a major issue being it doesnt have a lot of scavenge going on(it still has it but not near as much as a 105 LSA)

Thats good to hear. Will have to wait and see how restrictive the collector mufflers turn out to be but they really don't look to be very restrictive.
