I bought 440 source 505 stroker kit, had it balanced by them also, had it checked over by a machine shop with no problems found, I'm sure if there was they would have jumped right on it as they didn't cut me any slack on the machine work on the block. Been racing it for about 4 years, hundreds of runs with no problems, I'd by another by the way it runs low 10's.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I posted a bunch of Info on my 505 build using the 4.25" stroke, 7.1" rod kit in a 440, and also using the Stealth heads. For the most part the kit was good, but had one rod where the notch that locates the bearing was a bit off, and the bearing was touching the radius of the crank, the result (indicator) was tight rods side clearance. I just chamfered the bearing slightly and it was OK. Here is a link: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...part=1&vc=1I also have a 440 source 4.15" stroker kit in a 400 block, and I have not had any problems with the 440 source parts, but the Edelbrock Victor heads have given me problems.

i've built several strokers using their kits, and they're all still out there. the parts all checked better than my kit, which was from mancini (eagle crank and rods, diamond pistons). of course, the rods need to be pin fitted. i don't think the chinese will EVER get the hang of proper pin fit (most likely the reason for the pin bushing failure pictured earlier in this tread). there are some things i would not use from 440 source, but the rotating assemblies have been good for me.
for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

It's pretty hard to mass produce a rod with a fitted pin bore when there are more than one size of .990 pin. Brandon told me when I bought mine, that they were machined tight and had to be honed to fit. Easy to take metal away, hard to put it back.
The only thing I had to touch on my Source kit was the pin fit and I was told that up front. Anything else that came out of a box that said Edelbrock, Mopar Performance, Milodon or Ross had no end of annoying or expensive surprises. As my builder likes to say, "if it comes out of a box, it's FUBAR"
The safest course no matter who's box your parts come out of is to assume they are junk and check and correct as required. That way you don't have a pin bushing that looks like the one above.

A buddy of mine had a 572 with -1s on it the crank, rods, and pistons came from 440 source he sprayed it every lap for two years an went in the 4.50's more times than I can count. The stuff is as good as the guy putting it together. I had a 520 440 source bottom end ran it two years went 5.00 many times, no problems
It all depends on how much power your going after
God made cold beer, good friends, hot ladies and race cars don't spit in his face by pi$$ing and moaning about how life sucks!!!
