Hi Gentlemen, I will be swapping out my 71 Cuda's exhaust system and want some feedback / recommendation on what I am thinking. This car does not see any track time, but I also do not want to be embarrassed by some Mustang street rat. I am looking for a performance boost and a more aggressive sound. Currently there is no drone while cruising and I want to keep it that way.

3 Questions: Header size? Exhaust size? (going with TTI on both) Which Dynomax Muffler?

440, 0.30 over
452 heads, 3 angle valve job, no porting, stock valvetrain
9.7:1
600 CFM Edelbrock Performer Carb
RPM Performer Dual Plane
SpeedPro Cam #CS-1148 224/224 duration @ .050 lift, 455 int/455 exh, 112 C/L
Factory HP manifolds
Dual 2 ¼ exhaust all the way, Dynomax Ultraflows, H-Pipe, factory 1 ¾” Cuda tips
727 auto trans, TCI Breakaway converter
8 ¾ rear, 355 gears

Thinking of 1 ¾ headers, 2.5 exhaust, 2 ½ Dynomax Ultraflows, X-Pipe, 2 ½ Cuda tips.

Your thoughts?

What about keeping the current exhaust, but going with the headers and swapping the tips to a larger size?

What if I had the Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads? Would that change your recommendation?

Thanks All!

What you have in mind sounds good to me, It's basically what I have

for my Challenger with a 451/Edelbrock heads. That 600 carb is your problem with those

Rustangs.

I if it were me I would go to a bigger carb, and Hooker Supercomp coates headers seem to always work best for me.

I would step up to three inch pipes and muffs all the way from the headers, same on the tips I would also look at aquiring a Holley 950 HP, if you want to make sure you can whup up on all the locals rustangs, not the real fast oone though
