I bought a 1971 Demon that has a 4speed hump welded in, but the car has an automatic trans in it now. What do you guys have for advice for a shifter I could put in this car. I do not have the parts for a 4 speed and the column has been converted to a floor shift too.

I prefer a Hurst Super Shifter III for an H-pattern unit There are many vendors that can hook you up with a new or re-man shifter but I like dealing with Jamie Passon at Passon Performance.

does that Hurst shifter bolt directly to the 4 speed hump or do you have to make something?

All the factory OEM shifters and all the Husrt shifters for stock Mopar 4 speeds bolt to the trans tail shaft not to the car

That's good then. Hopefully whatever I decide on will bolt to the automatic trans tailshaft then.

Auto tranny shifters bolt to the floor. The stick trannys have the shifters bolted to them..

I am truckless..

OK I think we have it now,you are converting your AUTO trans to a floor shift and this has nothing to do with a 4-speed transmission
Is this close???
There are lots of choices for automatic floor shifters from all the major aftermarket parts distributors like Mancini Racing

His problem is that he has an automatic trans in a car with a 4-speed floor hump, so he cannot use a stock type floor shifter. You can use any aftermarket cable type shifter, that is the only way to go unless you use a column shifter but you will have to get all the linkage. If you change the column you will have to get one for manual steerring or power steering as the PS column is shorter.

Thats correct, the car has an automatic trans in it. The car has a 4 speed hump, so I need to buy a shifter to work with that hump and the auto trans.

I have a new auto shifter I bought probally 40 years ago for my Auto Bee.It uses solid linkage not a cable. It has a flat plate that bolts to the floor.I bought it for the linkage for my Hurst auto shifter that was missing the steel linkage.Biggest problem is that there is no gate to show you what gear you are in.Looks just like a 4 speed when bolted to the floor. You can cut a piece of steel and bolt it to the hump and attach the shifter to it.Rocky

Rocky,
That's what I figured I would have to do is make a plate to bolt the two together. Didn't know if there was something on the aftermarket for us Mopar guys to remedy the problem.

The shifter I have in the garage has a flange on the bottom.Bolts to the floor. Then the end sticks thru the floor and the linkage connects to it.I cant even remember who made it.Sitting on a 4 speed hump it would look just like a stick car.Rocky

That sounds just like what I am looking for! Could you get some info off of it so I can try to find one for myself? Drop me a PM if you find something. Thanks Rocky!

Sounds like the typical Mr. Gasket floor shifter with mechanical linkage:
