I'm going to start doing some component restorations on my 1970 Duster 340. Any recommendations for whom to send my power steering pump to.

I rebuilt my Saginaw pump myself. It was very easy. The rebuild kit was only about $15 at the parts store. The hardest part was getting the reservoir off the pump.

I understand that a pump rebuild is pretty easy. I was concerned that the shaft is worn which would still result in a leak even with new seals.

Do you know the shaft is bad? I've rebuilt a bunch of these guys and haven't seen a bad shaft yet.

I don't know the shaft is bad but the car does have high mileage and it was a concern of mine.

They did the box/pump for a car I had in my shop a few years back and it never worked right... the cars owner has problems with it today and the car hasn't seen the road. Flused and done how they directed... they won't see any parts from me again.

Take it to autozone, they can send it out to get it rebuilt, I did it for 50.00 including shipping. Comes back tested and a quick turnaround. Tim

RockAuto sends them out as well. I think Cardone does them.

Steer & Gear did Mine off a '67 GTX- charged big
money, and when I had occasion to take It apart
(because I dropped It and bent shaft) I found that They hadn't even put a new O ring on the resevoir seal-just siliconed it back together, had hell of a time getting apart!!

They did the box and pump for the car I had here and the pump, looked like they just spray bombed the pump. And the paint was still sticky when I got it back. Who knows what they did or didn't do, but they won't see a part from me again.

I had issues with my first rebuilt pump, it leaked like a screen door on a submarine! I sent it as a core to Firm Feel who sent me a pump that they had already built. It has been a great unit and I would recommend them for ANY steering related part. The sway bars, steering gear etc. are all first rate. Good company to deal with.

Garbage their stuff is. A friend got less than 1000 miles from one of their boxes and it leaked. Mopar Action also ragged on them, only identifying them as being from the "midwest".

This!

It's really not that difficult and the results are well worth it!
