Hummmmn no real smoke at start up and no real bad oil usage. If you stomp on it there will be some out the pipes but not anything terrible.
This is the original engine to the car so it's 43 years old.
Oh and i have been running 100 octane as well as Seafoam gas treatment if that means anything??

maybe seafoam is cleaning up pistons and valves and it is sticking to your spark plugs?
Interesting observation as in the past on start up the engine always a little upper end ticking for a few minutes untill it warmed up and now that you mention it the ticking is gone.

Well at 43 years old the valve seals are either gone / rock hard or

Does that plug look 1/8" too short is that just me! Put a set of RJ12YC's in and try tha! I'm pretty sure that you have the wrong plugs I think what you are using are for a 1941 ford tractor

Im using and have been using these Accell #8197 spark plugs that are a better fit when using headers that any others i have tried in the past. The engine starts on ome key turn and runs perfectly. So this coating of crud is what is me. Thought maybe it's the brand fuel i use but i only put in Chevron 91 as that's the best we get out here.

It sure looks like oil to me most likely coming in from the bottom of the intake gaskets or the valve guides. Stu if you lived closer we could have the next Moparts party engine rebuild cookout Gus

Gus one of the things i have seen from the day i bought the car is a puddle of oil constantly in the valley of the manifold on the driver's side only though...Any thoughts on that?
