As i took off my headers i pulled the plugs and they all looked like this one in the photo. The plugs have maybe 1000 miles on them. If you stomp on it there will be some out the pipes but not anything terrible. This is the original engine to the car so it's 43 years old. Oh and i have been running 100 octane as well as Seafoam gas treatment if that means anything??

Interesting observation as in the past on start up the engine always a little upper end ticking for a few minutes untill it warmed up and now that you mention it the ticking is gone.

Most all gas treatments will do that because of the additives..I would burn the rest of the gas in your tank and clean the plugs. Recheck the plugs again in another 1000 and see if they look better..the black deposits look like its running a bit on the rich side...

I'm pretty sure that you have the wrong plugs I think what you are using are for a 1941 ford tractor Im using and have been using these Accell #8197 spark plugs that are a better fit when using headers that any others i have tried in the past. The engine starts on ome key turn and runs perfectly. So this coating of crud is what is me. Thought maybe it's the brand fuel i use but i only put in Chevron 91 as that's the best we get out here.

They look like brand new with no a bit of discoloration in the last 10 years of use. Does tell anything about the fuel mixture or oil usage problem??
