New out of the box quick fuel hr 680 for my 340 cant get it right. engine 340 with lunati 60403 cam 226/234@0.50 edel airgap performer intake carb specs primary jet 70 secondary jet 74 primary nozzle 31 idle air bleed 70/70 high speed bleed 28/28 power valve 6.5 Seem to get idle in nuetral set adjust all 4 corner about 1-1/4 turn out idles good put in gear stalls out, in nuetral good idle and snap the throttleopen and spits back through. Hold the throttle plate ope a little and seems to work better, Dont know what to try next, had a chevy guy tell me to drill a small hole in the plate, but, i dont want to until i know for sure. Anyone around the annapolis md area up for helping out, burgers and beer. What else can i try? change nozzles or bleeds? take the red cam off the throttle and change it out? helppppppppppp its frustrating

are you getting a good AP stream when you pull the throttle? (amount/duration). What idle speed, what initial

No kidding, seems to be a constant around here.

If it doesn't have at least 15* initial minimum, try there and return the carb. It might want up to 20*.

Please don't say it has XX total timing or you are using the factory 6* or so setting. Those are no good to use unless you get lucky.

Set at least 15* and check your total number. You will likely need to adjust the distributor.

idles about 1020 timing set at 36*@2500 seems to be burning rick, blackish smoke from exhaust that will burn your eyes a little, leaned up the 4 corners about 1/4 turn but still wants to stall when u pull it in gear, rpm drops to about 600

Like RobX said above, We need to know what your timing is at idle speed and it wouldn't hurt to know what the timing is when the speed drops to 600 in gear. Distributor more than likely needs work on the advance curve. What distributor are you using? Also what torque converter?

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

That thing is SO FAR off it's not funny. You're one of the total timing crew... STOP NOW with that nonsense, please.

That cam should idle EASILY at 800 rpm in P/N and 750 in gear. It will pull 13" of vac when adjusted properly.

Put 15-18* on it at idle and check for vac leaks.
