Well, I am bringing back a past here on what we were all hoping would be a year full of Mopar events around the Ohio, Indy, Penn. & W.Virg. areas. I typed in the words "Mopower Events" and it took me to all this. The year has past and we had 2 less Mopower Events ,( no West Virginia and no KilKare), 1 less Monster Mopar,(no St Louis), Curt George Memorial was moved from Pittsburg to Quaker City, Chrysler Power Classic in Cinci. I would also like to thank the people that showed up at "The Spring Nostalgia Nationals" at National Trail Raceway for the 3 years that I put it on. I will not be doing it again but you will be seeing my Sled City racers out in full force at other events next year. Of course we are all wondering how to plan our vacations for next years racing and I think it would be nice for Jeff Johnson, Josh King, Charles E. Blankenship, and of course "Big Bob George" , to say what they have in store for us next year. One last thing, are there any "NEW" promoters out there throwing their hat in the ring?
I'm working on a series for next year and I think we have a new sponsor; the Mexican Cantina and Grille. They have locations in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana and are interested in providing free food and beverage for all our events, as well as year end cash. I'm looking forward to "MCG's Race for the Can."
Well, at least we have one promoter out there getting ready for some good racing.

To have a clear understanding of my position,I'am not a promoter.I and my associates help sponser the Curt Memorial race to honor Curt, his memory and his legesy.I leave the promoting to the track owners and or the event owners if one is involved. We have been recently approached from a potential promoter who wants to create a new 3 race series for Mopar racers. This would be a race oriented event, with guarrenteed payouts and affordable entry fees. The payouts will come from sponsership money and not be prorated on the number of cars entered. It is unfair for racers to travel at great cost to find that the purse is diminished because of low car count. It is the responsibility of the track owner or event promoter to bring the racers to the event. The big mistake they make is not securing the sponser funds to cover the payouts and realy on the gate and entry to cover that cost as well as put money in their pockets.Relying on only the gate and entry is a sure way to lose money unless you cut the payout and that certainly pisses of the racers. We are in an early stage negotiations with this promoter and if anything developes we will inform everyone. Respectfully, Bob

I can say with most certainty, that another group of people trying to put on races will be a great reason for me not to do it.
Why is it the Mopar mentality to saturate an already whored-up market as a solution....
Josh, with the loss of some series and the lack of attendence at others for whatever reasons why wouldn't a new series benifit racers? As long as dates arn't conflicting and venues saturated as well as programs not typically similar,a variety of events in different locations would give racers and enthusiast more oppertunity and choises as to dates available and distances to travel and type of competition to compete in.Your events are a great venue for multiple classes like 10.5,quick and others as well as a varity of special classes.Your events are usually held at the larger tracks in populated areas with many sizable side events as mfg, venders, swap and shows that attract a lot of people traffic. A series with limited classes that cater to smaller market areas that normally wouldn't have these type of events :ie Beaver Springs would not hurt your series and provide more oppertunity for our sport to grow and even enhance your events if more people become interested. We hope that if a new grassroots series does materialize you would view it as heathy competition and a restart of interest that may benifit everyone. Then maybe we wouldn't be viewed as a whored- up market, we would be viewed as a high-class specialized escort service. Respectfully, Bob

With out healthy competition in any market will enable one to monopolize that market and dictate the rules and hold the public hostage with a take it or leave it attitude.Eventually the end users will find away to bring down such an monopoly. I would hope Josh wouldn't quit because of a little competition.I see no threat to his events. In the past we have always schudled our event and our entire race schudle so that we could attend Josh's event at Indy and Norwalk. After 8 years of having the Curt race in June,we graciously moved it to August as not to conflict with Josh's and anyone elses events. We still feel that these events can enhance each other if promoted and schudled correctly and it can be a win win for both the events and those who attend. If your passionate about what your doing you can succeed even if you have to compete.

Well put Bob. The promotors should sit down and get everything hashed out on dates etc. I think I can say that Moparmax races at Cedar Falls,Iowa will probably be held again after the Div.5 ET finals in sept.2014. I don't see this date hurting other events that happen in Ohio,Indy,or St.Louis. A lot of it will depend on the economy next year. I do know some of our locals that have gone to Indy or St.Louis. Good luck to everyone. I sure hope things work out! Ted
