Hey everyone,

Im going to be ordering a pre fabbed cage for my 71 scamp from S&W in the 8 point offerring. I wanted to see pics of those installed in members cars to see what fitment is like in terms of my front kick panels (They are speaker kickpanels), the cross bar, and the rear downbars (I know there is a pro street bar going through the speaker holes and the standard going through the rear seat area- would like to see where in the trunk these attach to).

Also curious which kit you guys are using- the mild steel EWS, the DOM tubing, or the Moly stuff? I want something affordable, preferably that I can mig myself at home, but not overly heavy (I know the moly is lighter, but by how much really??). I need this to pass tech for running 10's, so I just want to make sure I order the right material for the bars as well

Thanks!
Matthew

pics look good man! I like where the front bars come down, looks like I can make them work with my speaker setup. Im curious to see how the rear down bars look in the trunk with that pro street bar setup.

Did you tig the setup in? or you had someone do it?

still trying to decide which material to go with

All tig except floor plates. I had to increase the bend in rear bars to clear the filler pipe.

S&W mild steel. Cert to 8.50 though I'll never go that fast.

Why don't you at least price one through your local chassis shop. I just had a 6 pt MS roll bar installed by Comp Chassis here in Phoenix for $700.00 complete in my 67 Cuda fast back. The rear down bars follow the roof line to the trunk. I like the look. I'll post pics later if your want.

As for my local chassis shop, they want 250 a point, and only do moly...so an 8 point cage is 2000 dollars....way out of my price range

The halo bar and down legs. Lots of room around the kick-panels. You have to slide them in from the rear though. Past the down leg.

Hey man, were you able to shoot any?

Anybody else with the S&W stuff in an a-body care to snap some pics of their cage and what it looks like?

If you look at my trunk picture, you can see where they meet the frame rail just before they bend down part way back of the fuel cell.

thanks for the pics man! I see what you mean about the bar coming close to the filler pipe...Would you have been able to just cut the bar shorter instead of having to re-bend it? or would that have thrown the mounting point for it way off?

I am pretty much decided on a DOM 8 point that I will mig in myself, and probably from S&W since their price is pretty fair I would say
