And this is the first time in 12 years that I haven't been down the track yet. I have driven the car around the block a couple of times and tested the tranny brake and that is it! Money has been real tight this year and I just can't drop around 200.00 to take the car out. I would like to take a few shots at the 25.00 test and tune next weekend...Am I the only one is this position?

Its been 4 years for me my car is still apart (but going back together)and money is always tight!

The best I can hope for is to get it done for spring.

Bummer. I sat out all of 07,08 and 09 and have put less than fifty passes on the car in three years. So you have company! Hope you make it out this year!

Thank you,Greg! I did not realize that you were out that long!! I hope that I can do the Mopar Max II at CFR..I really want to run this thing as it feels totally different and stronger just running it around the block!! The only major change was from a Victor 4150 intake with a 4500 adapter to an M-1 with a 4500 flange...I did change the ignition coil thanks to Keiths ignition coil testing that showed that the old Accel coil was petering out at 6200...I cross the stripe at 6700 so there may be something to that theory... There is a 2K and a 5K coming up in a couple of weeks, maybe scrap prices will go up a bit so I can get in on that!!

Ted, you MUST get out for the annual grudge against "longhair". We are all waiting for the smack thread.

Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...

Me too bin doing a lot to the car plus fixed the blown up motor and money is tight. Finally hit a TT a couple weeks back. then a Nostalgia race with our small group last week (won a couple rounds then lost a close one to the points leader) things are coming together still making some tweaks. I'm thinking about a TT day next week and then I may drain the water and get ready for next year.
Or I may hit a thanksgiving race at a local track our thanksgiving is October 6,7,8.

I've been to the track once this year. That's it. Monster Mopar will be the second time. It's hard to go rounds without much seat time. Oh well...hopefully I can step it up next year.

One time here. After spending 4200 on an engine,(did it myself) the thing wasn't done nickel and dimeing me. Another 200 for a new battery and another 150 for a better cooling fan,30 for wiring supplys, not to mention fuel cost. Oh, and now I'm gonna have to spring for a new roof for the house Put a fork in me, I'm done!

I should be making it to the strip once or maybee even twice more this year, but then the wallet is going to slam shut.

Hope you make it at least once Ted.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

I havent been out at all this year or last year...
I believe I'm going to put it up for sale in the spring..
I'll freshen up both engines that will go with it
(W-2 and the W-9)... I have been spending my time and
money on the Rampage.... I thought about selling my
complete rig (car, 2 engines, truck and trailer) but
I think I'll keep the truck and trailer

Hey Ted! I was "hoping" to go to RFR in Oct, BUT, my belts are expired, and it would be stupid to mount up my new slicks just for one weekend. The good news, next year I should be able to race a few weekends. Top this: 7 passes since 2005. lol

Well, Ted, misery loves company, so I thought I'd post, too. My pile of parts hasn't moved since Labor Day '11, and it sits with quarter panel repair 1/2 done and no motor.

I also gave my fuel pump and my seat belts to a buddy so he could get his car out.

I can relate..............used to race 8-10 times a year then 3-5 and now if I`m lucky, 1-2 times if I can. I just figure that NOTHING in life remains the same and as much as I don`t like it, I accept it for now anyhow. Good thing I`m not drinking today cos times like this make it REAL easy to create havoc and chaos............Hopefully thing get better for all of us. Peace...........

Ted, I've only been out a few times, and with my Dakota at that. Went a couple rounds, but was never in danger of being arrested for impersonating a drag racer.

I finally have my ready to break the cam in. Haven't made a good pass in 2 years. The motor is fresh, tires are good and I'm ready. Hope to be able to wear it out next year.

I know what you mean Ted. I wont make it to the track at all this year as cash is just to tight with me on disability. I usually have enough gas money to go to the local cruise and some local car shows but thats about it this year. I want to get new slicks over the winter anyway. This is the first year in a long time that I will not make it to the track at least once. Ron

I just go out Friday test and tune. Racing is now an expensive hobby. Same fun on test and tune and something I can afford.

I'm on disability too Ron....I can relate.

Made 5 races this year which probably cost 200 bucks each race for diesel for the truck!!!
Can't ever get off this Island 'cause the ferries to the BC mainland set you back $500 + every trip.
Sometimes I contemplate shelving all the race car thing, but the wife enjoys it, and I'll have to admit that it's one of the few things we do together.
Unfortunately, this winter will be freshenup the race engine....needs head work and springs, new flexplate, new trans shield, and god knows what else that'll pop up.........Thank god the wife still works.

I can honestly say I am having a blast this year at the track. I took a high 9 second pump gas engine in the duster and made it a 10.20 car. I added an alternator and removed the fiberglass doors and replaced them with stock doors. I make a pass and crank the windows down. When I load up the car in the car trailer I climb out the window, tie the car down and its ready for the tow home. I am going rounds again and took second on Saturday and I am starting to get REAL comfortable in this car. I still want to finish the Daytona over the Winter and race it again next year but I am not really looking forward to the extra work and 3 layer safety ware again. I may just use it for some Top Sportsman racing.

Helll Ted , ive raced maybe 3 times this year ?

Im done until 13' , no money to fix my 727 and no ambition to pull the heavy sob out of the car -- just had to buy a new radiator for the dam Dakota

Oh , and I wouldnt be "testing " your trans brake on the street... might be hard on the sprag

TBoomer- I have been in the same boat this year as well. Haven't had my car out since last fall.

Planning on going to the test and tune at Cedar Falls Sat afternoon.
