hey guys so the problem is that we still have smoke comming out the right tail pipe. we thought we had this fixed after we fixed the intake gasket that got sucked through and fixed a small hole in the intake port from porting, but it still smokes. we do not have any blow by and the 440 was just built 150 miles ago, so i do not think the valve seals are bad. the engine info: 508 rotating assembly with icon pistons and callies 7.100 rods with stage VI heads and a m1 intake. like i said any ideas would be great. we are getting close to the beginning of hair pulling.
oh we just bought a lead down tester, so i'll post those numbers soon
thanks, Matt

Unbolt the header on that side and take a look at the exhaust ports and the backs of the exhaust valves. Should be able to spot the problem hole. Once you have the hole, pull the valve cover and make sure the guide seals are in place. Everything ok, you could run a leak down test on that hole, but most likely you will have to tear it down. Doesn't have to be oil. Did you run a pressure test on the cooling system? Bubbles in the rad (with the cap off) upon start up and does the cooling system presurize real fast upon start up?

How much time do you have running it AFTER the fix...
could still be burning the oil in the pipes

Beat me to it,and mufflers loaded with soot/oil.

Did you change any spark plugs that got oil fouled from the leak? If so, check them. If not, look for any with signs of oil on them and replace them. Run the motor for a while and recheck them to see if you still have a problem.

our problem seems to have temporarely went away. we went to the part store and picked up some cheap spark plugs and put those in and the smoking seems to have seized for the moment. i dont see how the spark plugs could have caused the smoking. our leak down test was inconclusive because we could not get any consistent readings. we had one cylinder that was 17 percent and then the next two cylinders left us scratching our heads with a reading of 0 percent. as of now the smoking is not there, we will see if it comes back. thanks for the ideas and help fella's.
