A 3 wheeler will work IF it is heavy duty enough & the one in the pic looks to be a lightweight. When you move it pull it from the front & best is to also have a helper on the rear pushing. Myself I'd get a better one

I've had a three wheel version for years. It is somewhat unstable to any force applied perpendicular to the engine. Anything I torque I stand behind the stand and pull towards the head of the stand. Early on I made the mistake of pulling to the side and even with me holding it from turning, the stand almost went over. I've been looking for a good used four wheel version and once I find it, the three wheeler is history.

My advise is to weld another set wheels on that thing and don't use it with 3 wheels. One of the dumbest things ever sold to us. Don't use it like it is, it's unsafe and stupid. Do they still sell 3 wheel ATVs?

Hot Rod Mag tested them and they are plenty strong took like 2000 lbs to bend one. Now like everyone says if actually working on the engine on it be careful they are easy to tip.

I once tipped over my hemi engine, moving it around on one of those 3 wheelers. Fell right onto the oil filter, cushioning the fall, somewhat, and putting a dent in the valve cover that i hammered out. Made a big mess, before i could engine hoist it back up again. 3 wheelers work, but you gotta be carefull with them. After that i bought an expensive 4 wheeler from NAPA, and never had to put it to use. Go figure.

Thanks, its the same decision process for me everytime I purchase something for this project. Well, if I spend another 20 or 50 bucks, I can have the better this or that. So I have to cut costs somewhere, and only spend the extra when its most needed. So where do I skimp? On the thing that could kill me. I already started using this stand, I will not push it on the coasters. When I begin to torque things down I will make the decision to weld or bolt a front cross member. Probably will endup costing more than if I had just bought the better stand. Oh well. Thanks for your advice on this guys.
One last question, would I be able to start the engine on this?

That 3 wheeler looks like an accident waiting to happen. I've got my 383 HP motor on a 4 wheeler from Harbor Freight that works pretty good but it even feels unstable at times depending on how much I try to roll it around in my garage. I wouldn't even try it with that three wheel job. Be careful!

I like many here used one for years for small blocks, lots of 440s and one hemi. As stated use extreme caution when moving it. Think when you are torquing bolts down so you don't tip it. No disasters with mine which eventually got upgraded like Challenger1 suggests - a quick weld job with some scrap tubing and a pair of casters for a four wheeler. You can make it work. And you can NEVER run an engine on that stand.
Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...

I have a couple of those HF style stands,but really never use them.I have a Lakewood engine stand(same people that make the bellhousings) that is a 3 wheeler,but very sturdy,and rolls easily with a 440 on it.It's built like a tank.
Nautilus Racing- We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.

Well that did it for me..... I still have the box that it came in and they're open today. I checked out those welds on mine and I don't like them, just three 1/2 welds around that cylinder. If this engine goes over or falls, it'll scare the heck out of me, if it doesn't kill me, and will be a setback to the project. Thanks again.
