Closest local track. Fuel for tow vehicle $80.00 Fuel for race car $40.00 Entry for car/driver $35.00 Wife's admission $10.00 Entry 'dialin for $$' $10.00 Buy back $15.00 After looking at the facts & figures, I guess I could save some money by leaving the wife at home and not getting beat first round.
If you like drag racing, support your local track.

No tolls my way. Back roads every chance I get. 1hr drive each way, or 1/4 tank of diesel ($30), 5-6 gal of premium 93 for the race car, generator, 4 wheeler ($30), Track entry fee, $25, so I would say, right around $100...
45 minutes to the race track, freeway almost the whole way, footbrake class.

For a divisional I figure 500-800 depending on distance. A National event will easily chew up a 1,000 bucks. As much as I love going it is getting hard to justify it anymore.

Just talking about this very thing... And thats why I didn't race this last weekend. My local track cost me at an event other than TNT's $85 car n driver, 200 mile round trip and food n fuel for the car cost me right at $500 And yes food is a factor when you have several guys to help you set up camp & help with the cars.

When I go I normaly go for fri. sat. sun. and camp at the track. Cost me and the wife $300 to get in the gate and the kid gets in free for now for the weekend, 200 mile round trim with the motorhome $150 minimum, I usually buy two 5 gal cans of 110 oct. for the car which is $85, A $10 NHRA pit vehicle pass for the golf cart puts me at $545.00 not including food or drinks.

Wenesday Night at Norwalk: Gas for whatever "race" car I take: $20-$25 car and driver: $7 food in the cooler: $10 pound of ice cram at the track: $1 Saturday Night at Norwalk: add $5-$13, depending on class Friday at Quaker: Gas: $15 car and driver: $25 food in the cooler: $10 So even racing my daily driver for a trophy or an admittedly slim chance at a $125-$150 first prize, I'm spending $40-$55. This is why I'm trying to announce more often.
